I love this video! The colour palette is my favourite too. I'm definitely going to recreate it with my Australian botanicals. Thanks again Kit!

I love this colour combination. Have fun with your botanicals. I have to wait months to print more. But, at least I have my Stash!

Wonderful! I really like the aesthetics of your work. Thanks for sharing your creative thought process. The inspiration paper is particularly lovely. Did you make a video when you created it? I don't recall having seen it. I would think that Queen Anne's Lace would be tricky to use on the plate. Any insights on how you managed this would be appreciated. I am inspired to try printing with them this summer. Thanks again.

Thank you! I don't have a video of this particular sheet of tissue being created but check out Turning Weeds Into Art kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5mpinSpg7qjpa8 which used similar weeds. This is actually dill weed picked before the seeds get too dry (very narrow window of opportunity!). Sometimes I remove some of the seedheads to make it less 3 dimensional. Flattening it under some weight before printing can also help. The tissue allows you to press your fingers into all the little spaces while removing the background paint from the plate.

This really is great - it is so rare to see someone taking all the papers and put together a well designed art work, that is complete in itself, using all the separate bits. I do have a question: all through the process of putting on the pieces from other papers, I wanted to see a big connected shape form, as in other visual art i have worked in. The big connected shape ends up pulling the composition together, letting the viewer's eye travel to the center of interest without having to leap over divides or find an alternate route to get to the center of interest. what do think about that in collage?

I love to layer so I design my first layer of collage and paint as a solid structure that I feel I can add the more transparent layers. Using a light botanical print as the next layer and then the dark print on top, I think adds depth in a work that is pretty abstract. I like to have a primary centre of interest with secondary focal areas. If the eye can travel around the work without getting stuck, it is usually a successful painting. There is a lot of decision making and feeling my way along before I am ready to glue papers down!

Beautiful piece.Thank you for this demonstration. I am wondering how archival the materials are… how long will the tissue elements last before degrading? Thank you.
@KitBellArtist9 сағат бұрын
I use Spectra Art Tissue which is acid free. The rice paper is also acid free. They are, of course, encased in matte medium so not exposed to air. I finish the work with a coat of removable varnish with UV protection (I like the satin finish personally) So I think, overall this is an archival process.

C'est très beau, est-ce que c'est vous qui avez fait les genre de fougères sur le papier de soie ?
