You need to put rock sliders welded outside the frame and then jack the truck from the sliders

Austin! That plasma cutter is getting a workout! The brackets look fantastic! I have just a couple little suggestions. When you plasma cut the brackets, grind off the oxide layer from the edges of the plate before tacking them together. That oxide will sometimes cause porosity mig welding, and always cause it tig welding. Make sure that you're not creating traps for mud and water. So far, the work you're doing is on par with the high end customs shop I used to fabricate at. Fantastic work!

Nice work Austin. That upper pan hard mount is sweet! For driveshaft clearance, just cut that front section of the frame out and build a lower profile frame rail, using plate. Should be plenty strong to support the motor and front coil over tower.

track bar and drag link need to be exactly the same length and angle otherwise you'll get extreme bumpsteer and axle shift. And if you add hydro assist it will tear the front frame rails apart bcausr the ram won't allow the steering to turn so the strain of the different arcs of travel is piled onto the track bar and mounts.

For the upper link you could have just run a crush sleeve through the chassis rail and run a long bolt through from the outside 🤷🏼♂️

Instead of fiddling with weird frame angles because of the pear of the front axle, you'll find it easier to widen the entire frame. This is a more reliable and safer solution.

Great idea with those pads for the slanted part of the frame! No use in risking your life for no reason. Also, once you go with this big of a tire, i highly recommend you go hydraulic ram-assist steering. Don't risk it! And it'll be a lot easier to steer too. Also

I knew that driveline would hit the frame after the last video. But also knew you would have a pretty quick fix for it. It really needs to have 2” or more of clearance though. 1” is just asking for a catastrophic event if you take it offroad.

Is there any reason you can’t mount the upper link where you wanted, but run the bolt through the frame instead of towards the tranny?
@rogerjohnson3392 Жыл бұрын
Is there any flex in the tri link in the front, or the quad link in the rear when one end gets a good bite and the other end slips, specially with the power thats coming out of that engine. I'm not a builder, just an old shade tree mechanic, emphasis on the old. Really like your work Austin.

Never messed with an FJ. But when I built my CJ crawler I built the frame wider then stock just so I would have clearance for everything. My son has a mildly built 70 Jeepster . It's common to widen these frames as they are way too narrow. We had a hard time fitting a 5.3/th350/205 fit. We may end up building a new frame one day for it.
