I want to start welding heavy duty things such as what you did here, what kind of welder were you using I only have a Lincoln 125.

Well, simply put, heavy duty welding requires a heavy duty welder. That having been said, the welder I'm using here is a Hobart Ironman 250. It is 230v, 240 amp machine. It is old, It was cheap. 1,200 dollars at Tractor supply. I have put nearly 600 lbs. of wire through it. A welder like this set up this way with 75/25 Argon CO2 will and can only weld 1/2 inch in a single pass. This welder does it well. Heavier welding with a mig requires flux core wire and a gas mix with less CO2. Peace.
