Looks great, rooftop deck is a nice feature! with a bench, sink and a bbq up there it will be a dream

I certainly learnt some interring things about the echo deck boards. The expansion due to temperature is something that I would not have considered if I was using it on my deck build. I think it must hav been a difficult job taking all the factors into consideration. Well done. (I hope the plasterers appreciated you keeping their area clear)

Composite decking expand like crazy, if you ever see and Eco deck with mitres it will be 10mm gap in the morning and touching by the afternoon

Why on earth wouldn’t you use an aluminium deck frame system? Or even some aluminium extrusions. It’ll last forever and is perfect for this application.

👍Agreed. Although I think the engineer preferred something “non-abrasive” and didn’t (🍆penetrate) the roof sheeting with fasteners.

@@jacksirren2372 could have used aluminium packed off the sheet metal with 3mm rubber pieces and glued in between the packers. The silicone or polyurethane would stick better to the aluminium too.

Have a look at using adjustable spira paves for something like this next time. Place a 3mm piece of rubber or cosmofin waterproofing under them for protection then aluminium framework with some rubber joist protector on the joists so you cant see the silver colour of the joists through the deck gaps. Engineers must think everyone has an unlimited budget the way they design things these days

I used WoodEvo for my deck and had the same thing with the gaps going all over the place. Not the end of the world but annoying when they started perfect with a tracksaw cut

why don't you do picture frame for the decking, which will take out 2 board that might get you using full board in between the picture frame

Why not joist tape on the metal and then treated timber above?

Not yet its just beautiful weather and on a roof it gets plenty hot, hit enough to remove the shirt

That is going to creek so bad when walking on it. Poor design. I guess you can only do what the engineer wants.
