Building a DIY Eurorack Power Supply | Tutorial

In this episode we build the Frequency Central FC DIY Power supply. This inexpensive and simple circuit will allow you to power anywhere from three to a dozen Eurorack modules, making it perfect for testing, or using it in a modest Eurorack setup.

The thing is for $20 you can also get ready to use , full enclosed power supply that you just put in your case. The popular choice, Meanwell RT-65B delivers 65W of power, namely 2.8A on +12V, 0.5A on -12V and 5A on +5V. There is also a 50W version but it's barely cheaper, so it's not the most economic choice. The only thing is that power supply is not really small enough for a skiff. Still, it's worth considering as 350mA is kind of weak when you start playing with digital modules, many LEDs and screens

You are absolutely right. This module is really more oriented toward the fun and learning of the DIY aspect, plus it's perfect for having a small, portable device to power and troubleshoot modules on your bench, where you might not have your full Eurorack case. But I have Meanwell power supplies for my live case, and I agree - they are the best choice for small, high quality switching supplies.

Definitely handy for smoke tests on the bench, risking 65W worth of a dead short is definitely not my cup of tea

This psu support more of 2 modules? Can I plug a multiple spot cable instead of a single connection cable for 1 module ?

Yes, you can connect it to a bus board or flying bus board.

I think the new revision has room for a PCB-mount AC plug ;)
