You can embed/sink the torches into the beams . . . remove the beam . . . place the torch first . . . and then place a beam over it (or stones or whatever). You can get it so the torch just sticks up a tiny bit. All the different torches and light features also suppress spawns just like the workbenches and campfires do

Oh I didn't know that the lights in the game did that. I was thinking that I'm going to have to have loads of work benches all over the place.

Tip: If you place down a campfire, the fog will disappear in a radius around the campfire!

I've only just found this out. I was using it today and worked really well for snapping.
