Frank my opinion on a entrance door on a concession built trailers should be on the opposite side of consession window or back of trailer leaveing more room for Graphics what you think? not only that when u need to move supplies in or out during working hours you are not in customers way.

I'm not a fan on that side personally, but it could work, it wouldn't work for my layout but there are many layout options. The door on the other side wouldn't impact my graphics at all.

Thank you for guiding to the manufacturer to buy the window. I bought a health department safe window that is 3 x 6. I have been watching your videos on how to install. Thank you so much as they are extremely helpful!!! I have a question. The installation instructions guide to have at least 3 1/4 sill support but these trailers only give what maybe half of that. I see that you added the 1 x 1 square wood for support but wouldn't that mean that the window sticks out too much on the inside? They show adding a brace for sill support. Can you show how much it sticks out on the inside with out it and what you have done or maybe don't do. I'm confused. Thank you so much...in advance for your response. Oh, wait, I do see how you show how much it is sticking out. But, I'm still curious about the required 3 and 1/4 needed support. Thanks

Never use a level on a trailer use the roof line Also find out where the ribs are in your trailer and get a window that will fit in between a set of ribs. It will make your trailer much stronger.

Frank - have you had any issues with the window shifting or the trailer not being as sturdy with the beams all cut with no support around the window on the cut beams? My first trailer I screwed in some 2x1 square tube to build out the frame for the window to screw into and to hold the beams in place, but your way looks a lot less complicated - so I'd be interested to know if looking back you wish you welded the frame in or put some other type of frame in - or if the window itself is a strong enough frame. My next trailer I'm building has a much bigger window, so I want to be sure it's sturdy.

Thanks for doing this video. It really helps to see someone do this. I have a question. You already had boards up inside so when measuring for the window both inside and out, you are not able to see where the trailer structural vertical beams are. How did you ensure you avoided those?

Yes the trailer comes factory with the plywood. I can see the studs when I remove the trim piece and get the measurements that way

Hey Frank! Your videos has been great inspiration to us. We’re stuck at this part. We bought a food trailer that alrdy has a 6x3 cut out with awning and we can’t find any windows here locally to fit. I called JR Aluminum and they sent me a quote for the concession style we liked but the the measurements are the exact same as our cut out space on the trailer 6x3 (72x36). I noticed how you measured and did a cut out smaller than the size of the window you purchased. Should we have them make the window a little larger than our cut out so maybe 74x38?

The measurement I have was the opening then there is a 1.5 lip on the outside to secure the window

How high is the bottom of your window to your floor? I wanna get an idea for the height of my window.. I don’t want to be too short for me working inside but don’t want to make it too tall for people ordering outside of the trailer.. my trailer build is 8.5 x 20 ft 7k axels so it’s a bit taller then some of the trailers I’ve seen. Window was about 1,200 give or take a bit depends if you ship or pick up. Unfortunately I do not Install them for anyone besides the ones I do for the videos here. But hopefully I gave enough information that you might want to try yourself 👍

All depends on what you add inside for equipment that is the priciest part. I've seen fridges for 2k and some for 10k. But I would say 15k roughly would be a good start not counting your truck or Trailer only materials

No extra bracing in the overall trailer just around the window added some small 1x1 studs to make the window more sturdy

I would look to build it out like a house. Add studs to the metal with wood or metal and then add plywood to the outside of that.

The only permit I know you would need is your health department permit when you go get your inspection any other ones needed could vary depending on your county.

@@Rayrockny left the ones on edge, if it was a house would be called the king or jack stud. When I did mine on first trailer, I did not know what I was doing but over a year later the window is still in place no leaks I did the same thing to this one 👍

On this new one here I added wood cross members to add support to studs and that made a big difference adds more support.

You just compromised the structural integrity of that entire trailer but not welding in a header and sill. If that thing is towed much it will fall apart. Learn some structural mechanics.

@@daniellopez6556 I'm a fabricator not a KZbinr. Basically you have to have a horizontal piece of stock at the top and bottom of the opening that is welded to all existing verticals. Or, put another way you have to weld a box of steel all the way around the opening that is welded to the vertical skeleton of the trailer. It's similar to how a window is framed in a wall in home construction.

Hello! My truck/bus already has windows installed in the area of where my concession window will be. Do i measure from the inseams of those windows? the lip is where the screws are so i didnt want to include that space in the measurements

Yes that's how I measured mine from inside to inside.
