i did this exact build years ago. only thing i wish that i wouldve done differently, was opt for a GSR 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear. The LS gears are just so long that any all motor powerband and even into turbocharged 300HP+, the longer LS gears are just way to much, the RPM drop from 2nd to 3rd gear, and 3rd to 4th gear are SOOOOOOOOOO long. Acceleration coming out of corners going into 3rd gear are just awful, even with the 4.4 final drive. To put it in a more understandable perspective, Just from swapping this trans setup to a factory GSR with a factory ITR Diff shaved almost 18 seconds off my laptimes at my home track!!!!!!! INSANE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!

Nice work dude, Your video IS a good guide as anyone attempting this for the first time will be going through exactly what you are.

Thank you for slowing down on the rebuild. Ive been working on hondas for 25 years but never reassembled the trans but would take them apart for the head tech/transmission guy. Looks pretty easy thank you.

I think the countershaft actually comes up to align with the input shaft, when the countershaft gets lifted up to seat the C clip in the outer case.

good stuff! , but use one of those outter casing that you don't need no more.. Cut it open on one of the side to view the gearset after you put it in to check all your clearance visually because when the full casing is on. You won't be able to see anything. just a short cut to check things out before mounting it to the car.

26:57 *ProTip;* -place the case over a fluid-filled electric radiator type heater for 20 min. Then, using gloves, simply hold the case *_bearing-side down_* and give it a hard shake. The bearing and oil-guide will just fall out, no need for the specialty puller.

Some fine thread fasteners can take a different path on the way out after they've been torqued. I'd get new ones, slightest movement at the wrong time could detonate your trans. Didn't notice it was 8 months old. Definitely always get new diff bolts. Same with flywheel, head bolts or studs, crank pulley. I've used head studs twice just because they have a different block thread pitch and has excellent clamping force. Good video! Stick the whole gear set in freezer for a few minutes. Bearing will fall off with little force. I've built a couple b16/LS Frank's. Usually just LS 5th but for some reason I remember using a LS 4th and 5th in my last trans

I have been building B-series Honda’s since the late 1990’s and never once have I bought new bolts for _any_ of the things you listed above. Not even headbolts. I know Honda says replace the headbolts, but unless we were putting in studs, we just reused the headbolts and never had an isssue.

@@TheJaimePowell maybe that's why you build so many.. plowing through engines and transmissions because you're too cheap or ignorant to buy fresh hardware is a dumb strategy. Do it right or don't do it at all.. stop creating a shortage on b series drive line, just because you think you know what your doing doesn't mean you actually do..

@@justiceofthesun7303 ..Did you read my comment? How many engines/setups *have you built* _over the last _*_30 years?_* Why would you assume “I’m plowing through setups”? I had an _engine-swap_ before -you had a license.- _I’ve _*_been here,_*_ doing this_ *…..since the 90’s,* kid! 😉🤫

Another reason not to use impacts or power tools on parts like that. Not unless you hand drive most bolts down first. POWER tools are the devil. But people are such in a hurry. Can’t rush HONDA perfection. SPOON doesn’t use power tools. !!!!

to keep the bolts from stripping out on the ring gear you have to crack them loose first and then evenly remove them. learned my lesson on that one for sure

Makes sense, I kind of just sent it unfortunately lol

@@Gripworkz you don't necessarily have to replace the bolts If it happens. As long as they make it up to torque spec you're fine

Just picked up a Integra w a b16a trans b20z b16head. Also have a civic w a b20 BUT it has an Integra transmission, still unsure what trim. So now I have plans of swapping both my transmission. I wanna boost the Teggy and would prefer the top speed vs. acceleration .
