I bought this same master rebuild kit as well as a z3 lsd for my rsx a few months back. Night and day difference in shifting from my worn out 200k mile transmission. I will definitely use this video in the future when I rebuild my spare transmission. But on a personal note thank you for putting out so much detailed information. Thank you for the video! I used it to swap over the internals from a 6spd JDM 07-11 CR-V tranny to a 5spd USDM 05 lower case. I had to swap the ring gear from the 6spd differential to the 5spd, as I need it for the gear driven VSS. Everything swapped over easily and it really wasn't too bad. I haven't reinstalled the tranny yet, but I was able to cycle through all 6 gears and reverse, all while spinning the main shaft. If this all works out, I might be the first person to have a 6spd manual 05+ CR-V. Thank you!!!

@5.7tundra yep, added carbon synchros to a 02-04 rsx-s transmission and swapped 6th gear for a 9th gen si 6th for low cruising RPMs AND added an mfactory LSD. Honestly it was pretty easy once I watched this video a few times it's extremely helpful. Only thing I didn't do was measure clearances but it's been about 35k miles so far and zero issues

Great vid. 20:40 you completely forgot to line up the fixed gear to the 3rd gear synchro, thats very important to mention in a video like this, because people make this mistake all the time...shit made me cringe. I was literally yelling at the screen. LMAO. NOTE TO AUDIENCE: make sure ALL the syncros are aligned properly. Otherwise, you will NOT be able to close the case. If you do manage to get it closed, because its possible in the most desparate case, you will either crack the case, damaged the gear, or in extreme cases, damage the shaft. Its easy to miss, as you can see, he was still able to slide the selector onto the 3rd gear synchro but not the entire gear itself.

Great info man! This is the best kseries tranny teardown/rebuild i have seen. I have never done this, but i do have the rsx shop manual, and now this video to help guide me. I have an 05 jdm dc5R tranny , that needs some love, mostly 3rd gear syncro i think, but will rebuild the whole thing. I also have a 02-04 rsx-s tranny case, with euro-R CL7 internals. I want to change the diff to the rsx-s 4.3 final drive for boost. I believe the Euro-R gearing is identical to the 02-04 rsx-s, but with carbon syncros and 4.7 final drive. I just want to say thank you for this amazing video, which will help me take the leap and do the work myself #thumbsUP

Great video, one important suggestion. IF you plan on using the lower housing and bearing to hold the shift while working on it. Replace that bearing AFTER you finish the gears, not before. Incase you cause inadvertent damage to them by working the shaft around.

When doing the countershaft, I had trouble with hub sleeve moving over synchro's, turns out the larger teeth in the hub sleeve don't go in the 3 slots (cutouts) of the hub, they go in deeper cutouts of the hub sleeve. Took me 2 hrs to figure this out.

I was working on a k20 5 speed and I replaced the input shaft bearing. Of course the shafts and the forks came apart on me so I watched the video and put them all back together. What do you think I did wrong if I'm locked out of 5th in reverse? I guess I'm going to have to take it all apart and redo it.

Great video. I am doing this right now and decided to replac emy 3rd/4th hub as well as it is equally as chewed up as the sleeve. Im confused as my synchotech kit has 2 smaller synchros that differ from yours. They appear to not have the bass inner part whatever its called. Am i dupposed to just reuse the old ones for 5th and 6th?? Thanks!

Have you ever rebuilt one of these z3 transmissions and had it whine in all gears afterwards? I replaced my synchros with synchrotech ones and had a whine in all gears. So I went back in and replaced the main shaft and both synchro hubs on it. I was told they should press on. My original one's slid on and off. So when I put the new ones on a very low milage shaft I had to press it together. The only other thing I did was put an open diff out of a RSX-S in it. As I was planning on using the helical LSD in a RSX-S transmission, which I did during the first rebuild. So my question is, could it be the open diff whining? Or is there an end play check I should be doing too verify the shims are the correct thickness with the new parts?

I have a problem getting my case back on seem like the counter shaft bearing keeps binding in the case as in it won't go all the way in. And when I go to remove the case it stuck in the casing.

After rebuilding with new bearings and carbon synchros, I put in both shafts and tried to spin them by hand. 1st, 2nd, and nuetral spin easy, but 3rd, 4th, and 5th start binding. What could be the possible issue?

is there any reason why me taking that allen key bolt out would cause my shifting to become really clunky? sometimes it feels like my car gets stuck in all of the gears, and then other times it will shift fine. im considering rebuilding it, but possibly this bolt/assembly is the issue? because i did take it out before knowing what it was, it was loose already

Hey my man, i got the european cl9 Accord with the trans code AST5 and want to use the 1-5 gears from the european CTR with trans code NPQ3 but keep the stock 6th cl9 gear for eco, plus an mfactory lsd, well i am kinda lost, the lsd i got is used from a k20 ctr and has the VSS gear already installed behind the bearing, will this CTR vss gear work with the cl9 speed sensor? Will i have any issues with speedometer if i keep the longer stock final drive if the cl9? (3rd gear of ctr and cl9 are not the same, if not mistaken the cl9 reads speed from 3rd gear?) Do i have to just throw shafts with the gears from ctr on the cl9 housing? Mfactory recomends torco mtf fluid, what are you using? Sorry for the long azz questions, any input is greatly appreciated, i am kinda lost and too scared to build it wrong way and repay mech to take it out again...

Great video man I've been using this a while I've noticed one of the bolts on the crankcase is missing on my 8th gen I think that's where my gear food has been leaking out of as well is that possible? I was just looking around trying to find a leak and noticed one of the bolts was gone. Pretty sure that's where my leak is coming from , isn't the axle gasket , slave and cmc is dry stays full.. my my transmissions mtf leaks out pretty quick.. I was told I could be the input shaft seal. But this missing bolt might be the reason. it's definitely one of the bolts the crankcase is held down by.. thxs

Hey man I have a dc5 type s with stock 6 spd trans and I always have issues shifting into 2nd at high rpm 8200ish rpm just grinds and locks me out it Pericles my ears every time people say it’s synchros but after seeing all these components I’m shook. Your advice?

Check to see if your clutch pedal needs adjustment and also check to see if your cmc and slave cylinder are good it’s free and easy so might as well check that first before tearing down the transmission
