As the sun sinks in the west, all is quiet at the Dead Eye Saloon in Gruesome Gulch. Or is it? Legend has it that ol' Dead Eye Dan was cut down by a coward's bullet through the upstairs window (you can still see the bullet hole in the glass). And now, on moonlit nights like this, Dan's restless spirit is rumored to haunt the dilapidated saloon still, plotting his terrible vengeance.
It's time for another spooky structure build for the On30 Gruesome Gulch layout! This time, it's the notorious Dead Eye Saloon - said to be haunted by the restless spirit of ol' Dead Eye Dan himself! The Saloon features a simple animated ghost effect that makes Dan appear to drift by the broken down butterfly doors every 3 minutes or so. Follow along as I build the structure from the ground up, including the motorized mechanism for making the ghost appear. Stay tuned for even more from Gruesome Gulch coming soon!
Thanks for watching, amigos!

I had heads turning, while my grandmother was driving past Calico. I looked at the exit sign, said I've been there, then described the place including my dad holding me. Everyone was like how do you remember that, apparently I was about 1 year old. I have no clue. Mysteries of the mind I guess.

Maybe as a later project; add a tiny orange LED light to the bottle the skeleton is holding as a contrast light for the ghost, especially when you flood the scene with moonlight.

Dear Julian, very cool video, love your explanation for the DIY Sculptamold. Definitely will check out the link you added. A few years ago I produced my own pulp and plaster mix. Had the same overheating problem with the blender I used. Even though I did the blending wet. This because I chose to use paper shreds. Didn’t think about egg cartons then, will try out those too. In my experience sifting the paper pulp will also help to improve the mixture with the gypsum. Finding a good blender is the important part of such a DIY project. To improve the dispersion of the pulp through the gypsum I would suggest to use a small paint stirrer, or ‘propeller,’ which fits to a battery drill. Of course in a covered container with a tiny hole for the axle of the stirrer to protrude through. By the way, while making my own mixture, I also set some pulp aside to use for an experiment to make my own ground cover and leaf material from the slightly coarser paper shreds. Did some experiments with it, which came out really good. Cheerio

Hey Dave, unfortunately you ca-ed the butterfly wing doors, I think it would be a good idea, to make one of the doors could swing back and forward, moved from the wind or from some spooky thingies. And I often think about, if magnorail-System could be used for moving tumble weeds over the plaines. And by the way, sorry that I wrote during the last live-stream about the longhorn skull over the door (forgot that it is a stable for horses, sorry for that), that looks really ugly? Her in Nuernberg Germany, roundabout 200 meter away from the Est-Entrance to the Toy Fair, there is an Ancient Cowboy and Indian Club and they have two of these longhorn skulls on top over the entrance to there ground, an I don't like that. It looks very scary. But when you put some of these skuls in the desert of Gruesome Gulch, I think it will become mor gruesome, especially when a rattle snake is living inside of that and it looks through the eye-holes. I like it very much to watch your videos. Because I'm from Germany and I have never bin in the US, I still don't know how to build a US-inspired layout, but your Videos give me an impression, how I could do it. After I played a the PC-Game Obduction from Cyan-Worlds, I want to build something with a mining facility in the desert, somewhere in the wild west. But I still have much to learn about the reality about mining in the US to make it realistic. I hope I can realize it but I want to avoid to make it look like an amusent park in Germany.

Howdy! Been following the build since last summer! I hadn't kept up since the holiday though. So it was a pleasant surprise to see I had a backlog to catch up on! Quick question, do you get your 1x dimensional lumber precut, or do you roll your own? Thank you! And thanks for keeping this spooky ol fan entertained and educated!

Given the spook's small size it might need to be that bright to be noticed, if not a higher rated resistor will fix it

@@johnbusby215 John, did you see the ghost going by the door? It looked of sufficient size that diming it would be better in my opinion. Obviously, you have your opinion.
@johnbusby215
@johnbusby215 Жыл бұрын
@@markdeschane4467 Yes I did see it and I do wonder how much of the visible issue is a trick caused by the filming. It might not look as bright to the naked eye But as I said it can easily be dimmed a bit by a higher value of resistor. Personal thoughts aside its a pretty neat animation effect.
