I have seen your bows with this design before and am grateful to know why you did it. Thank you for the explanation!

Great information and instructions, thanks. Is your handle slightly off center like your hickory self bow video?

Thank you. This bow was laid out with symmetrical limbs

Have you had any problems with cracking down the center of the limb during the tillering process?
@SwiftwoodBows3 жыл бұрын
If this is happening it's likely because the edges are too high for your particular design. They need to be low enough that they wont force the limb to split like that. The limb flattens out a bit as the bow flexes and if the hollow area is too deep then I think it can't handle that strain.

Makes sense. I've tried 2 bows now one shag hickory and an osage and both split down the center of the limb. Thanks for the info and great videos. Your bow designs inspire me! Where do you source your snake skins for backings?

I really enjoy ur content Welin!(sorry if I spelt ur name wrong) Im just finishing up a hickory hld(or atleast sumwhat hallow limbs lol) anyways I was wondering what kinda gouge u got urself? I've been looking and have seen either super cheap or expensive. Can't seem to find a mid range. Just wondering if u had any advise on gouges and those hook knifes.. thankyou!

I forgot to add it was my first attempt at a hld, I'm new to bow making and did it with only the goose neck as u said and it is alot of work that way lol

The hook knives are mora i believe. I got the gouge at a local woodworking shop. I think it was like $30. Not super high end but good enough for my purposes. The first HLD I did was all with a gooseneck so I feel your pain.
