Nice setup, Mark. I just have a Sonos setup, so I just need to have the speakers close to an outlet to plug them in; they all connect wirelessly. I don’t have anything as sophisticated as your setup. Great job!

I have a PS5 and 4, Switch, N64 and the original Xbox. But haven't upgraded my TV yet. Bought my LG in 2008. It's still great with no issues. 1080p 60 htz true motion, something something.. Stereo surround sound is even more outdated. Bought it I think in 96 lol. .. Man, I need some upgrades. Prefer to start with the stereo. Even though there is still nothing wrong with my Kenwood receiver and graphic EQ.

I have a 31 band graphic EQ. I believe that a zone can be used to connect to the input of the EQ for monitoring the frequency levels. I have the OnkyoTX RZ-50 on order. The EQ I already had. That can get confusing at times, like a Jedi Mind Trick lol! Nice video, Thanks for explaining!

Sure you can game in 2 zones but the controllers signal has to make it to the console. I would wire USB extension to my other zone in that case. I use my zone control to play music in the bedroom and the main is in the living room.

But how do you control the audio output in your bedroom? Lets say you are listening in your bedroom (zone2) to music and want to skip to the next song. How do you go about that? Do you have to physically move to the receiver (wherever that is located) and change the song? Or are there devices that can be used in your bedroom that control the receiver?

Good intro giving us an overview and not a cliffhanger. I always just thought they were for adjacent rooms or like a patio and you got my interest Would it be possible to have a second receiver? I upgraded for newer hdmi switching but I wonder if I could pass it a signal from my newer model

How do you control the sources though? Like can you remotely, while outside, turn the music on without having to go down stairs and turn everything on first?

You can run an IR repeater or many receivers have app control. I also like using a Google TV as a source so its easy to cast audio (or video) to it and control via smart device.

@@CarAudioFabrication that makes sense, but would that mean you would need a second remote for the IR? Or is there a wifi switch of some sort that could work? Using it repeater sounds a bit clunky to be strung around the house to multiple locations.

Will adding the receiver and a long video cord add any delay to the PS5 input? Some TVs are too slow to use even with a direct connection.

We haven't noticed any issues even when playing on the projector with its 50 foot long HDMI. Some older projectors were more an issue but today's latest are extremely responsive.

Hey Mark! Love your videos and your home install is perfectly timed for me. I'm finishing up a very large home renovation. The house was half destroyed back in superstorm Sandy and I'm only now completing repairs and an expansion to it. Long story which I won't get into here! LOL!. Anyway, I ended up going with a full system from HTD complete with touch panel controls and two ceiling mounted Amazon Echo Dots. It has four zones. Kitchen (zone 1), Dining Room, First Floor deck and Master Bedroom. The Living Room Home Theater has my home theater system and since it's directly off the kitchen and is an open floor plan it's a subzone of zone 1. The speakers in the master bedroom and on the deck outside of it will be on an A/B switch so in effect they will be the same zone. All interior speakers are either wall or ceiling mounted. It took me months to think this through and arrive at this design. I did receive a design from Crutchfield and was not unhappy with it (I've been a fan and customer of theirs for years), however for various reasons I went with a completely different approach. It was a tremendous learning experience designing it. Low voltage wiring (ethernet, speaker, line level) is about to take place at my home followed by the install of the system. Wish me luck!

I know this is off topic but I need help, I always turn my radio up to a specific volume number to be on the safe side. I listened to this song with more bass than usual and turned it up a couple notches and the radio turned off. No system just upgraded rear speakers… what could have went wrong?

But if you're sending the PS5 signal to two different monitors how will the Bluetooth controller react does it reach that far let's say you're in one room where the PS5 is then you go into a completely other room will that signal still reach

Yes. I have a PS5 upstairs and come downstairs to get a drink. I hit a button when I set the controller down on the counter, and it registered. They connect via Bluetooth.

A great piece of equipment to use is a matrix switch. 4x4, 8x8 etc. It allows you to take any source and route it to any zone. i.e. You have 4 cable boxes, a blue ray player, ps 5, music hard drive and a music streaming DAC. All sources can then be shared with all zones. Together or individually.

It's pretty simple once you play around with the settings on the receiver. Definitely check out some of the manuals for different receivers to see what capabilities each company has and how they can be used.
