I think covering to top portion of your spider hole with a plastic tarp was a good idea to help with water proofing a little better, but without waterproofing the entrance and all four walls the wood going to rot and mold overtime . Not to mention if any animals get in and die down there. There's definitely going to be a miasma of stale air in your spider hole at some point.

Apparently, many viewers are interested in the construction of underground rooms, room complexes, etc. You have good ideas and know how to use good techniques that facilitate the construction of rooms and later comfortable use. The intrusion of surface water and/or rain (melted snow) into the building can be a problem, how to prevent or remove it. And of course, next to ventilation, heating and insulation, a toilet is very important. Good luck, I'm looking forward to the next videos on this. Greetings from Estonia!

you can put a handle above the door to your emergency exit, almost like a pull up bar(make sure it can hold the weight of a full grown adult) that way if you want to go in foot first or if you use it as an entrance to your base you can either go on your back, or just flip on your back at the end and pull yourself up out of the hole using the handle so that you can still use the ladder foot first

Earlier this evening, I got close up and personal with some Robertson screws. I wanted to remove a shelf set from the kneehole of a desk, while the desk was against a wall. I would not have been able to loosen the screws in the tight and awkward space if they had been other than Robertson screws. Mission accomplished. I am a fan. The desk was custom built in the USA over 20 years ago. My only other encounter with Robertson screws was in a motorhome that had been fitted out in Canada. The manufacturer thoughtfully included the screwdriver to fit them.

Perhaps narrowing the track, allowing it to sit lower in the tunnel would gain some room...Just remove the short spacers and marry the two track halves with a 2x4 lengthwise on the bottom. It would also allow you to position the wheels more under the cart to prevent a pinch or hair tangle hazard, too.. I love the idea of a rope to pull your self along fastened every 3 foot or so.....and I'd definitely choose another name for it ;) Fun project!

After reading some of the comments, I agree with the pully ideas. But it would be a good idea to use a powered system if you ever want to bring something heavy in throw the tunnel. Here are some other hopefully helpful thoughts for you. For water getting into the hole, a pump with a garden hose. The hose can run out of the tunnel. It will add to the camouflage of the pipe. Then there's the madder of the main entrance for your peace of mind think about digging it more. Shoring up the sides so the rain will not collapse the walls. Bring the entry all the way down to the main floor level, just to make it easier to walk in with other things. If you should ever expand the underworld project try using pallets for your wall, and ceilings. Laid over with plywood. To cut costs you can use scraps from other projects, or construction sites. That's how I helped a friend make his root cellar. We tacted canvases to the tops and draped them down the outsides if the walls, overlapping them at each wall joint. By the way, you are doing a wonderful job!
@pepperjack88132 жыл бұрын
You should add a pulley system that allows you to pull the cart to which ever side you need it on. you could also probably pull yourself along the tunnel with it too. A metal grating with a hinge on the outside end to stop animals from getting in too.

I can see an Ecoflow powered rail system where you push a button and zoom, you automatically ride the rail to either end. Since it will be, way, way easier to get out of the tunnel if you are on your back on the sled where you can just sit up at the end and climb out a ladder,. You could attach a rope to the top of the tunnel to pull your way along either direction, until the motorized escape rail is up and running,😀 Nice job.

Hi Kevin , I was thinking that if you do a pulley system on the sled then you can retrieve the sled from either end of the tunnel and use it for parts or people,…. Also had a thought of a hand rail at the spider hole side to help you flip around when going head first, grab the handle and keep your feet moving out of the whole, might work , idk…. And last thought was a door using bars(rebar maybe) and chicken wire on the top side exit … it wouldn’t look too out of place
