Just look again after your message, i understand better. Using tenkara and nymphs i use a line with a ring to wich i attach tippet directly, but i will try your method. if i understand the knot correctly. thx again.

I use the figure 8 for the leader section, a dubble over hand slip knot for the attachment of the Lillian and trilene knot to tie of flies

Thanks for the instruction. I have an 11ft Ansel. I know that you said the main is 2/3 of the length but what is the formula for the rest of the leader?

I do a set down leader so 2/3 rod length main line like 3.5 to 4 ft. Then tippet starting at the main line 1X for 14 to 18 inches, then 3X tippet 14 to 18 inches, then 5X tippet this section you can vary more depending on if you want a longer finished line like 14 ft. I never try to use shorter than the rod length unless needed to fish tight areas. I hope this helps clear things up
