If you want to add light weight obstacles, a can of spray foam works wonders. Spray a blob here or there then use a bread knife to carve it. The beauty about spray foam is it is dense, and light (since it's mostly air). Use the high expansion gap filler type. you can carve ruts into it as well and then paint it up so it looks like mud. Using the water based liquid clear, you could even fill the ruts with glossy clear, when it dries it will look like water. Just thinking: if you wanted to make a winter section/snow, paint things in white, and off white and use gloss clear to make it slippery. If you wanted to make a "desert" section, you could use camo paint in tan, get some plastic cactus and it'd be gold jerry, GOLD. I am just getting into crawling and I might just make one of these. You could also just screw down your 'mountains" so you can rotate them, or move them around to change it up. When you're laying down the plaster, put down some old grocery bags first so it doesn't stick to your base. Pre-drill the plaster sheets though so they don't split when you put the screw in. Also use pan head screws so it doesn't crack your mountain. You could even use plastic washers to further protect your plaster work.
