@trailrunnah88863 жыл бұрын
100% agree on getting the small-scale first! I recently got one, I wanted to get the 1/10 trx4 so bad. But all in, that's at least 600 bucks when you factor in the cost of the battery & the charger if you don't already own one. I picked up a 1/24th scale instead, had literally everything I needed in the box to run it as soon as I got home, even came with batteries for the radio. It's a blast to set up little courses using random household objects in my living room, but truthfully I really don't use it that often, so I'm glad I didn't shell out six or seven hundred bucks on the 1/10 scale. I think I'm going to get one eventually, I do have a few places near me that would be fantastic for a large scale crawler, but I'll wait till the weather gets better.

One thing nice about the micros, is if you want to take your crawler on a vacation, or camping trip. A micro, along with the tools, batteries, and spare parts you need can easily fit in a small duffle bag, suitcase, or backpack. On a vacation I took, I hauled my original SCX10 with me, and it was a big heavy pain in the butt. Everything was in a big carrying bag, but since I took a Greyhound Bus to my destination, as I don't have a real car, lugging that thing around to the crawling locations by foot wasn't fun. Had I took a much smaller, and lighter mini, or micro crawler I would have had a lot more fun, as carrying around a big 1/10 scale crawler felt more like work, and a chore, than relaxing.

Hey Seth, since you like 1/24 scale crawlers so much, I think you would really like the HBX Devastator! It features 4 wheel steering, which is very rare in crawlers this size. The 4 wheel steer give it a significant advantage over other crawlers it's size, and gives it a very tight turning circle; plus you can choose between different steering modes with a press of a button! The modes are: Front wheel steer, 4 wheel steer, rear wheel steer, and crabbing! It comes with lots of articulation, and features a body modeled after the Ford Raptor, and climbs good. The radio is good, and the run time is good too (30ish minutes I think). All of this for $100 or a bit less (depending on where you buy it)!

Just getting into this hobby. Thanks for the video, very useful in helping me make a choice in which one to go with first. That slow crawl at the end was awesome, seeing that left front wheel off the ground just makes me giggle.

Great video man! I love my SCX24! Another fun thing about them, is that there are a TON of 1/24 scale plastic models that you can make into a hard body for your micro crawler!
