Hey, I just want to give some food for thought regarding the placement of your water cranes: removing the ash is very time consuming, so the water cranes are placed near the ash pit most of the time. Thus, the cranes can also be used to cool down the ash. As an idea, you could place the water crane besides the ash pit so that locomotives which want to get only water can take it on the parallel track while another locomotive is filled with coal on the lower track :) Great video, it was fun to watch!
@kevinbrady6075
@kevinbrady6075 4 жыл бұрын
I know someone who worked in Bw in Germany.Unless your talking about BR01,it took 10-15 minutes for the each station.The water took more time as dampfloks held more water than coal.Sand could be topped off if needed.
@labschi
@labschi 4 жыл бұрын
@@kevinbrady6075 I'm just talking from my experience and what I've read in my model railway literature. In the old locomotive station in my hometown, the water cranes were located at the ash pit, as it was at the station museum in Bochum. I don't want to say it's wrong, I just wanted to give food for thoughts because I saw otherwise ;)

Nice build locomotive station. I am also fan of german steamers. The locomotive where you say it was the br 43, that's a little mistake. It's a BR 44 but the locomotive has a computernummer. Thats a system to make diffrence on paper between a coal and oil fired locomotive. The 043 is a br 44 oil fired. A 044 is a br 44 coal fired.

Hi! Thank you! My room is 3,6 x 4,8 meters. If I were to choose, I would ask for another meter width. Because then I could avoid all 360mm radius curves. So.. Ideal size would be 4,6 x 4,8 meter.

I have a question though....I’m running my trains on 3 rail, like you do, and im building a steamemgine depot. Like every steamdepot there is an ashpitt, normaly situated under de steamengine. I want to use the artitec ashpitt, but how am i going to make it, so that my steamengine pics up current to run further? I hope you can help me out with this!! Thank you, Paul from the Netherlands!

Probably depended on when and where you looked, during the later period of steam-engines where it was clear that the steam engines would be replaced soon I can imagine that a watercrane could get a bit derelict.
