Now Cali what you need to ask Dad is for him to build you a ramp that goes round the cabin and upwards so that you can share his space and not feel lost down there with your back to the logs. And he has not even given you a blanket to cover yourself over with when temperatures drop really below zero, so my advice : Nick a spare Deer hide and make it yours alone.

I have been following your channel for gosh as long as you have been on KZbin I guess. I think there was like 5k or so followers. I watched every episode up until a few years ago when I aquired an inoperable temporal tumor. Through prayer and a doctor who said death wasn't for his patients, I am in total remission. I just wanted to say Shawn thank you for keeping me in the wilderness. I am an outdoorsman and have been my whole life. I told my adult children that when that time comes and I am missing, Do not look for me as I will be where I want to be,,,,in the beautiful woods!! Take care,,,

I think Canadian snow is more polite and gentle when it falls. The loft looks great! It's almost 3 pm here in Maine and the temp is now -14 F. It was 4 F this morning at 5:00 and has been dropping all day. A little chilly. We heat with wood so it's nice and warm in the house!
This sleeping loft is simply amazing! Your attention to detail and unique use of rough sawn lumber and salvaged flooring is inspiring. When I was a kid we spent all school holydays in an old log cabin in the norwegian mountains. With only one firestove going it would be so hot inside we had to open the door to cool down. Outside it could be minus 30 celsius. Filling the stove with wood in the evening, it could still be quite cold next morning. Maybe around plus 5 celsius if it was really cold outside. With no heat at all for one day the temperature inside of course would be the same as outside.

We’ve had an ice storm here in Texas and of course everything stops. Even the mail. I grew up in the Mts of Va., and am use to this. Anyone watching your channel, will never stop learning. I’m storing up everything at 82, never know when it is needed🤣. My poppa always used a string to find his plumb line. He would have been 117 yrs old today if he were here on this plant. I believe his soul is still living in the spirit world. What I’m getting at is he would have loved all these new gadgets to make ones work easier. Thanks for the joy you provide us.👏👏

Hey Shawn Robin here a huge huge fan and You followed your dreams im sorry what happened in your other amazing build but ya know you never let it get in your way i watched not once or twice i cant even tell you i go to sleep watching over and over again in envy you have it all what truly impresses me is your wife and your beautiful daughters it takes a special loving family too understand how a father a husband needed to follow his dreams and their amazing god bless them and first off as a known beaded tapestry artist being creative i have to an extent followed that dream but i have since im a little girl not sure what drove me im talking young mom and i would watch everything on cabin building i loved the TLC Tree house i use to say mom i have this huge vision and i can liturally create and have so so many idea's what my ideal amazing cabin or tree house would look like all i want at this stage of my life sadly ive become physically handicapped now my hip is so bad its fused and surgeons wont operate sad because i had a huge b bucket list i wanted that design a cabin i Adore animals i wanted to have a fur baby like Cali as a retired groomer ive never been without a dog growing up on Long Island NY it was beautiful fun then my parents moved to FLA as snow birds i never imagined id leave NY but here i am at 62 working on my tapestries for Gallery shows major magazines, something is still missing mom passed away suddenly from a fall and my dads been extremely sick i have saved his life 4 times now i treasure him and its been hard he just got out of the hospital for the 3rd time in 3 weeks its so hard shawn... But i do know that HOA stink they rule what and how you can live and i know that dads leaving me his condo but i dont want to live out my life like this i want a doggie or two, i want to share my love and passion for animals i want freedom fresh air work on my art work in the Cabin of my dreams and i was going to do this until my life came too a stand still sadly i really need too move i love my condo but Florida is not for me you have inspired me to re think my dreams out only i would have to hire people to build out my dream plan of a Art studio/ cabin home.. im not married but watching how you meant so much to so so many people you truly are a gift to youtube to all of us around the world your talent is amazing, this current cabin larger thicker and much heavier logs you just keep on going oh and by the way your christmas video great family your a lucky man as they are too ... just all around inspiration hey would you ever consider helping people who want to design a cabin? the new place its so beautiful you can cook for me any time your totally living off grid self reliant love it... I lived in a studio apartment in NYC’S Greenwich Village when I was single. It was a 4th floor walk up and I lived on the top floor. Very old, well kept building, large planked floors, fireplace, high ceilings. I had a loft built when I first moved it and it was the coziest place in the world! The loft that you built in the cabin reminded me so much of that spot. Safe, warm, cozy cozy cozy. Well done, awesome addition in the middle of a mean Canadian blizzard❄️💨❄️💨❄️

I'm watching this at 0330 this morning and outside it's -20 Fahrenheit with a windchill of -38. Nearby Mt. Washington's summit temp is 46.2 F winds are blowing high 90mph range, and windchill is -106F. No fit night for man or beast, and the only place to be is inside. That loft looks excellent, but the chairs in front of the fire are perfect. Thanks for another good video, Shawn.

As you were making the loft, the cabinets/shelving were ingenious, and it serves as fall protection. I had not thought of that as a solution.

I literally thought of it ten minutes before I started it. I was scrounging around for saplings to make a railing and spindles and realized it was a waste of potential storage space.
