For your paper Slot, you could cut a bigger hole and just 3d print and nice guide that covers it and goes over the top.
@MakeFunStuff3 жыл бұрын
Good idea! That'd also let me attach some metal teeth to make tearing the paper a little easier, which is something else I've been thinking about adding.
@leef_me81123 жыл бұрын
@@MakeFunStuff for the slot you can "score" the wood on the faces with an exacto knife so that the tearout is minimal. But the 3d print idea sounds good for this specific location and purpose.
@MakeFunStuff3 жыл бұрын
Good idea! I hadn't considered scoring, I'll give that a try next time.

I thought Mosquitto was a server that you could set up on a Raspberry Pi etc. Is there somewhere that you can simply register to use Mosquitto's server?
@MakeFunStuff3 жыл бұрын
You can definitely run Mosquitto on a Raspberry Pi, but Mosquitto.org hosts a few test servers that are free for public use (although they ask to not put too much load on it). It's really convenient, especially for testing; more info here: test.mosquitto.org/

Love it. Could this be integrated into homeassistant?
@MakeFunStuff3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, Home Assistant also leverages MQTT and this can connect to any arbitrary MQTT broker. Some additional work would be required to get it to integrate, but I don't think it'd be too much effort. I've been meaning to get Home Assistant set up for quite a while but haven't gotten around to it yet, otherwise that's probably what I'd have used here.
@diegolopez9063 жыл бұрын
@@MakeFunStuff great !!!, I can think of many uses for this within home assistant automations. Unfortunately I don't have much knowledge, I'm just copying gurus like you ... Glad you like it! I don't think it would be too challenging for a first project, no individual part of it is too complicated and each part should be very similar to guides or tutorials you can find online, and all my code is available (see the link in the description).
