I might have to try it myself but just wondering if a shop vac or any other vacuum would work with this system. I know that pump you have it quieter.
@stanwiggins34232 жыл бұрын
Izzy, could you use double sided tape to hold two pieces of wood together then use the vacuum template on the top to keep them together while you use the trim router? As you said, you would have to keep the vacuum pump running, but eliminate the chance of any slippage in case the pores of the lower piece allowed too much air to penetrate for a really tight seal.
@jarodmorris6112 жыл бұрын
You would not need the vacuum if you use double sided tape.

I just got a grabo and made a box to hold so it can pivot around. I bought some weatherstripping hoping to use that for my templates so I very happy to see that my idea should of work. Now I just need to buy the “nipple” to make the grabo more portable for smaller pieces.

How many copies does it take to make it worth making those patterns? Baltic birch is different then birch veneer at home Depot correct? Where do you buy it? TIA. Great video
@justinhoffman53392 жыл бұрын
You should consider making the handles detachable for use on other templates. That way, each end-user only really needs 2 handles (or whatever the maximum number of handles for a single template is). Your manufacturing costs and the end-user's cost both go down. I think it would be pretty easy. (I probably don't have to explain it to you of all people, but) you could attach the bolt with some caulk like you already do, but tighten it down with a nut on the other side, with some threads left over to accept the handle. The handle could have a bit of a recess in it to fit around the nut.
@large652 жыл бұрын
I am afraid that is prone to disaster. In case of a kickback those "loose" handle will detach from the template and your hands are free to get straight into the long router bit (autsch).
@justinhoffman53392 жыл бұрын
@@large65 They wouldn't be loose. They would be threaded on.

Hi Izzy, I’m a newbie. Everything I’ve looked at so far says to use a router in the ccw direction on the outside of the piece to prevent tear out. It looks as it you’re routing in the cw direction. Do I just have my eyes on backwards?
