Hey guys, without getting in too much detail, my Z was totaled 1.5 years ago when some girl hit it while it was parked overnight. Being a new father then and having expenses and responsibilities adding up, I used the insurance money to catch up on things and whatnot instead of buying another car. We already had a Grand Cherokee, so it wasn’t that necessary where we live. Anyways, being a car guy since I was 12, I finally didn’t have a project car for once. Almost 23 years 😐 I stopped watching all car related channels on KZbin to not further my sadness. No more Throtl, no more TJ, no more all the ones I watched. Until this morning, when this video popped up on my feed. I worked 2 jobs in 1998, when I was 16, to buy a GSX. To this day, the model is one of my top 5 cars. No lie. Have to watch this series now! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face, memories of my late teenage years, and a feeling that I’ve been missing since I saw my completed Z a twisted mess and being flatbed towed away. Thank you!!

When I had my DSM... I used a spray bottle of soapy water an sprayed at all the vital areas/connection points where a leak may occur. Thus if there was a boost leak during the test you'll see bubbles indicating the leak. The injector seals are also notorious for dry rotting an leaking under boost. Others used a smoke test. Either way works better than just trying to hear for a leak. Glad to see this one in good hands.

If you have a turbo car and don’t have an easy way of performing a boost leak test you’re doing something wrong.

Exactly, or if you dont have one, just spray soapy water on all the charge pipes and connections. That will clearly show you where its leaking.

I’ve heard GReddy Type-S blow off valves are notorious for boost vacuum leaks, the NGR Type-S fixes that with a stronger diaphragm while maintaining most of the GReddy design and the same sound

They’ve been out of stock for a while now. They still have the diaphragms in stock though so they can always rebuild the one they have with NGR’s diaphragm

I kept telling myself it was the Blow Off Valve from the beginning, I've been running DSM since 2003 and those Greddys always fail, I never use them because they are prone to leaks, those cars really love the HKS open atmosphere or Tial bov and they sound great. But Greddy 👎 their seals are trash..

When I had my 99 GST it had a weak pull. After re-tunning it at Mitsubishi dealer it ripped. It pulled better then many moded eclipses. Ahh the nostalgia 😍

The only bad thing about the colour of this car is that if they paint it on the outside or wrap it, it just won't do. A car like this is screaming for a FULL paint job! I like where this is going :)

First off in F&F Brian didn't even have the 4G63t it was the dodge 420A motor you can tell by the intake and valve cover it's still a DOHC motor but no turbo I believe it was the same motor Dodge Neons had in their SXT versions.

Even just finding an older DSM let alone a clean one is pretty rare nowadays. Buddy of mine has a 98' GSX with 30k original miles and he only drives it once or twice a year

You can find a boost leak very easy with some smoke in the system... always works :)

The most common intake leaks on the 4g63T's are the injector seals, or all the seals on the throttle body.......thats the first place I always look on any of my 8 4g63t powered DSM's. do a boost leak test and spray soapy water all over the place.
