I just wanted to add they can totally crawl between those sliders and out the vent holes. Either that or mine pulled a jurassic park and opened the slider itself lol. They are also easy to bump open accidentally anyway so I highly suggest plugging up those ventilation holes with paper towel, mesh or silicone. Great vid, would be cool to see a mourning gecko kit on your site in the future!

They really are escape artists. It's great to take every extra precaution to ensure they cant find a way out.

I agree, it's really easy for them to get out so its important to try and do what we can to prevent it.

@LegendCreations_MC Жыл бұрын
I think they custom made the ones that they had or had them personally made, although you can find some very nicely designed and custom labels at Cloud Forest Design, personally I just printed out their labels with my printer and self laminated them, so i basically got them for free, although you could buy them for the site I could be wrong but from when I last checked they were reasonably priced.

Hi! Thanks for sharing. Just wanna know the rationale behind adding a piece of mesh. I'm always wondering if those tiny substrate particles, like soil, can eventually seep through the pores of the mesh or not? It seems like the mesh is of no much use.
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter Жыл бұрын
Depending on the drainage layer you are using will dictate if the screen is necessary. Using our original Hydrogrow, the product creates a really compact separation on its own without the screen so its not common for the substrate to go through it. When utilizing our V2, the screen is recommended because the balls are much bigger creating an open space for the substrate to easily seep through.

I see a lot of mixed information on whether or not you can leave the eggs to hatch inside the enclosure or not. Some say the adults will eat the hatchlings
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter Жыл бұрын
We typically leave the eggs inside the Bioactive enclosure and allow them to hatch naturally. There is potential they will get eaten depending on your population size, but you can take them out if that is your route of desired action.

Which one of your advanced bioactive kits do you recommend getting for mourning geckos. I was looking on your website and didn’t know which one to pick and if it makes a difference.
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter Жыл бұрын
We recommend our Terra Fauna substrate for Mourning Geckos. You can choose a kit that utilizes the same substrate and includes climbing decor. The crested gecko kit would be a good accommodation to supply the needs of your gecko.

Was just wonder whether it’s possible to keep them with adult giant train millipedes?
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter Жыл бұрын
It is generally not recommended to cohab them together, these two species have different habitat preferences and requirements. There is a risk that the geckos could harass or disturb the millipedes, potentially causing stress or injury. It would be best to house them within their own individual space.

just had a few questions if i do go with these geckos. i’m not sure if you can keep 1 by itself or not bc everywhere i’ve checked says different things. if not how many geckos can stay in a ten gal bc there’s gonna be so many children. what else can you do with the eggs? like where would i sell the babies and such.
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter Жыл бұрын
It is recommended to keep them in groups due to being a communal species. But they will reproduce like crazy so starting with 2 will provide more than enough to create a group overtime. Since our enclosures are set up Bio active, the eggs they create just hatch within the enclosure as if they would naturally in the wild.

I don't trust keeping mine in those tanks. I heard bad stories about them getting squished in the doors, or just flat out escaping. I keep mine in large critter keepers. I keep 2 per tank. I started with 2, and now I have 11 + 7 eggs. The way I keep them I know when each hatches and where they are at all times so I don't lose any lol
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter Жыл бұрын
Indeed. Mourning Geckos are known to be escape artists and have a knack for finding their way into small crevices.
