As you said, the last digit of a highway tells you if the road goes North/South or East/West. N/S are odd and E/W are even for both Interstates and US highways. Additionally, Interstates increase their numbering from the Southwest to Northeast. I-5 and I-10 run through LA. I-90 and I-95 through Boston. US highways are the opposite., increasing from Northeast to Southwest. The 3 digit roads are different. If the first digit is even, it's a bypass (runs around city, not through it). If it's odd, then it's a spur, that run directly in. I-380 (see map of Cedar Rapids, IA) heads into a city center from I-80. I-485 loops around the city, while I-85 would continue through (see map of Atlanta).

in addition, there are 2 federal numbering schemes -- traditional US highways are numbered east (route 1) to west (route 101) and north (route 2) to south (route 98) and interstate highways are numbered west to east and south to north. At first glance, the game seems to favor the interstates. Diagonal routes are arbitrarily designated either north/south or east/west (for instance route 66 ran wsw from chicago to LA (santa monica pier). The interstate bypass highways are 3 digits with the first designating which bypass (in a given region) and the last 2 being the associated interstate. The bypass logic does not apply to traditional US highways and we see many major 3 digit highways (e.g., en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_202)

Regarding 3 digit Interstate Highway designations, they are called Auxiliary Interstate Highways. If the first digit is even, it is a bypass around a population center and connects with it's parent highway at both ends. N/S last digit is odd, E/W last digit is even. If an interstate is three digits then if the first digit is odd it goes into the city, if the first digit is even it is a bypass. Examples: N/S interstate would be 95, 81, etc. E/W Interstate would be 64 and 70. 295 would be a bypass around a city center along interstate 95. 395 would be a divergent route which goes into the city center. Fun fact, mile markers increase from South to North and West to East. So if you were driving north or east miles would be increasing; 1,2,3,etc; and if you were driving south or west the miles would be decreasing; 5,4,3,etc.

This is for national or interstate routes. Last digit odd or even is north/south or East/west. The first digit is actually relative to where in the country the road is. For example us 1 is n/s on the East of the country. If there was a us3 it would be to the west of us 1. I-20 is north of I-10, etc. I-5 is on the west coast though for some reason and Us-101 is also on west coast. From my understanding when the highway system was changed into the interstate system, that difference was made on purpose. Three digit interstate when the first digit is odd it’s a spur of the base route. I-520 around Augusta Ga for instance was originally a spur from I-20 into the bottom of the city. meaning not a loop. It’s now a loop but maintains its original designation. If the digit is even it’s a loop, meaning it exits that road but connects again somewhere later. I285 around Atlanta is an example of that. It’s a loop of I85.

This is an old video but I thought I might clarify something. When financing a truck they do check your background in the industry. Even if you have excellent credit you'll have a harder time financing a truck without a CDL than someone with mediocre credit and 20 years experience.

Back in the 80s, a friend of mines father was the manager of the local BP fuel depot. He needed a new truck for his business, so he flew down to Perth... a brought a brand new Kenworth SAR... cash. Along with 2 trailers... also paid for cash. He decided he wanted a new boat as well... so he brought a 30 footer... cash. Realised that his car couldn't pull it... so a new 4x4. And he brought his son a V8 station wagon (estate). Mind you... he was worth about 20 million dollars back in the early 80s :D

Yes, the way the numbers go on freeway is low odd number is north south starting from California then go higher but still odd going East. From Texas north is low even to high even. Three digit is through freeways and three even is around big cities.

I've been a long haul truck driver for 8.5 years and quitting in a week to settle down and start a family. Watching this makes me really really want to play this lmao. Love the trucking industry but it's so hard on the personal life. Also, ya. East/west are odds and North/south are evens but only the last digit. Also, if it ends in a 5 or 0 it's considered a "main" vein. Ie coast to coast or boarder to boarder. 3 digit interstates are either "spurs" that go through a city or "loops" that go around major cities.

The third digit precursor is only statewide in determining if an interstate road will go around cities within that state (even) or spur off (odd), but does not cross the state line with the precursor number (it loses and gains the new digit across the line).

Looks familiar. I played this about two-three years ago. They had fps and resolution problems from the start and according to the discussion threads in Steam looks like they left the game with problems. I played this 60+ hours and at that point I had to restart from the start multiple times because the dev broke saves almost every time they dropped an update. Last fall, I switched to Linux and, just yesterday, I tried to play this on Proton and game crashed in few seconds.

NS Highways go up by tens starting at 5. WE Highways are the same but end in 10s. The whole number doesn't have to be even or odd, just the final diget.
