Hi Eric, My suggestion is; 1.build a “plenum” out of thin plywood and 2”X 2” ‘s above the entrance in your booth and use 4 or 2 (depending on size) regular booth air intake filters. Mount your electric motor and barrel fan on top (regular home furnace fan set- up) Fabricate two doors to close the booth at the front. Don’t forget that the air going in has to come from somewhere, preferably a shuttered opening ACROSS the shop up high above in the gable. (Or just open the door)Wire the fan to a switch just outside the booth in a convenient location. 2. Fabricate a frame to hold paint arrestors at the door that you could use to let the exhaust out. Then you could just open the doors when spraying! No messy exhaust fan explosion proof set up needed, spend your valuable time on the intake air supply instead! 3. Run more support on the sides even ropes will work. This way your booth will be Maintanance free other than replacing the arrestors and my guess is after a while you won’t even use them… The other part of your shop will also enjoy clean fresh air when the fan is on. (Personally I would leave the door at the exhaust side open, love the drive- thru concept…) Just wrap them in plastic to avoid overspray build- up! I understand you are anxious to get some jobs happening, however doing it this way will take more preparation time the benefits will outweigh that time invested and be enormous! Anytime you want my advice I’m her for you! - no obligation! Tom

Thank you Tom!! You present some very good points my friend. I’m am on a bit of a tight budget right now, what I would like to do is get a few small jobs in to do and get some cash flow, and upgrade the air intake system in the future. I am going to build some doors for the booth door instead of plastic I think, it will be more secure that way as well as adding supports, those are things I can do relatively cheap!

That door in the back will be perfect for a exhaust set up

I thought about using it, but it honestly easier to just block it off, I don’t want to get into cutting anything out of the metal siding or building on to it right now as I don’t own this building! So my exhaust setup will be at the back but on the side and venting out the window through ducting!

Nice man, I did the same thing. I had to redo this several times before i finally swapped to green house plastic. I originally used the lowes type also. It broke down and deteriorated very fast. Im down in dalton. Do you mix paint? I need a new source. My local vendor quit making paint. Thx
