This is why it is important to let kids play in the dirt, play with their hands, let them get dirty! I bet, anyone who would try doing something like this- it would wipe away their depression! So natural and peaceful compared to our busy, noisy, high tech world! Whenever I get involved in nature outside I feel “normal” again. I would love to do this! My childhood friend and I were always outside adventuring, we often say how thankful to God we had a childhood & did not have phones and such. We miss those days so much. Thank you for sharing! Must work up a mighty appetite when working like so, making any meal even tastier with hard work done. I like reading people’s comments and stories too.

I remember when our grandparents build houses out of straw and mud, and not having to work 40 years+ to afford a small apartment...now these type of houses are regarded as old fashioned or "poor". Somehow, at some point, someone made us think that we are stupid and cannot build a house, and therefore we must get loans from the banks, work a misserable job all our lives, and miss out all our youth so we can afford a home. We fucked up , and we must go back ! Thank you for all your inspiring work sir !

@jamesreves3298

@@timbushell8640 I would disagree, he has a pretty decent setup with the structure being essentially "pinned" together with wooden dowels. He also sealed it up with an old and effective method using cob (mixture of clay and plant fibers) which is really good with providing insulation and structure. However after an earthquake or storm, it may be likely that there will be some damage which would be relatively easy to repair. My only possible concern is flooding, given that the floor had been escavated.

Wattle and daub,is a tradional building method in the u.k. many houses are still standing after hundreds of years, they were made from a mixture of animal dung ,soil, horse hair or chopped straw,mixed with water, built on a stone foundation, to raise it from ground level. It was always thatched with Reed or straw, wide enough to jut out far enough to protect the walls from running rain water, this building wouldn't survive very long in a wet climate like ours.
