Another excellent video really enjoy them and look forward to the next one, I think the most daunting part of the build for me when i start it is going to be the door section looks like it could well be beyond my skills 😮

After watching your videos (well presented in good tech info) I have started to build a scratch build 34 mariner which will be a replica of the boat my son owns. Your work is giving me the inspiration Complete this project is a 16th scale model which will make it about 625 millimetres long, thank you for sharing your videos with us

So glad it has inspired you to make your own boat. Sounds amazing 👏

If you spray the edges with clear first then your colour you won’t get colour bleed under your tape ..many years of painting real cars and models taught me that. And me old grandad …pinstripe tape will let you do them curves in one go too ..👍👍👍

Yes, I’m aware of this technique (see earlier comment). Thanks for watching and relaying your story 👍

Yes this is all well and good, but I'm waiting for the episode where you stick 42,567,831 barnacles on the hull, you know, for realism. 😜

Looking amazing. I still cant get over how the Fiberglass is just invisible (yes I know glass is transparent). The hull just looks like painted wood and no sign of additional materials.

The trick with masking is to apply the tape to the required area, such as the deck and the waterline. Then, as an additional step, along the edge of the masking tape spray the original base colour (in your case the grey primer). Let it dry and then apply the contrast colour. This ensures that the contrast colour doesn’t bleed under the masking tape edge.
@modellingmisadventures4 ай бұрын
Yes, I’ve used that technique before (it’s demonstrated on the Chris Craft Corvette videos). I didn’t use it here because I wasn’t as concerned about bleeding because the weathering will mask it.

Looking forward to the model 'coming alive' with all the deck fittings added. Have you managed to source any suitable crew figures, I can't seem to find any in 1/40th scale. Am tempted by the Italeri 1/35th PT crew set
@modellingmisadventures4 ай бұрын
I’ve been looking for figures too. I may end up trying the 3D printed route because you can scale to whatever size you want. But there still isn’t much around.

@@modellingmisadventures Thanks for the reply, I know I am getting ahead of myself but am putting together the fixtures and fittings and the myriad of 'little ply boxes' with intricate joins, did you just paint them as is and leave the joints showing or use filler on them to make them all 'smooth' looking? I note the instructions don't appear to call for filling except on one or two?
