Cantis look cool. I’m glad that you made them work. But I just use V-brakes. I can make them work. Shimano T4000. Cheap, strong.

Nice video. I'm picking up a Moonrun this weekend. A lot of original fixtures and fittings are already there so I may keep it. (Front derailleur gang keeping it high) but you've done a nice build. What were the head set bits you hammered in, the anodised ones. Savd old bikes 🎉

Hi there, loving your videos. I have a feeling this could be my new obsession and I’m looking to do my first bike, I’m 6 foot two and would normally have a 19 inch frame but there is an 18 inch that come up locally to me. I’m just wondering if you have extreme raised bars in some form or another does that mean you can get away with a smaller frame and a higher seat, saddle and bars?

I'm in the middle of a 26" retro-build myself and on the fence whether to ditch the idea completely. Really wanna go 1x but a custom wheel build to fit a 26'r is beginning to feel ludicrous. The lynchpin to all this... I want XTR shifting to my 3x drivetrain; or any drivetrain and retain my existing wheel set. Anyone's 2-cents?
@SteelyDad91110 ай бұрын
I have that microshift 1x10 setup too but I have the thumb shifter and run it friction mode and love it that way. Might be a work around if you can’t get the hanger straightened out.

It is a brake hanger for the rear. You need a threaded barrel adjuster typically used on 80's road calipers. The adjuster allows cable tension & a stiffer brake bridge.

Those Tektro Oynx cantilever brakes are *pure junk*. The absolute worse non-post mount cantilever brakes in existence. Note, Cane Creek's are just rebranded Oynx. The Oynx wont stay in adjustment and when they do, the breaking power is so much lesser than other offerings. Avid shorties or Shimano CX50/70 are *so* much better.
@fatrobdouble9 ай бұрын
Another great build, but can you show us more about that crazy cantilever brake booster? I've found them for sale, but only in the UK (i'm in the US), but i would love to see how it works, in action. Not riding, mind you, but just a few squeezes of the lever while the camera is fixed on the rear brake?
@stanley90910 ай бұрын
Mate, Dunkin Donuts called, they want their primary colors back. But srsly, this build is so practical parts-wise. I'll look this up in the future if I scrounge up enough dough for a similar build like this.
