Hi. Great work!!! Just a question about fork tubes gold area (@4:53 for example). It seems to be perfectly slick. How do you obtain this? Because with metal paint, I never obtain such a result. Do you cover the paint with gloss varnish? Thanks
@ZiggysDesk4 жыл бұрын
Are you using acrylic or lacquer paint? I did not clear coat or anything, just painted straight onto the piece. You might have to check your paint mixing or thinner ratio in the airbrush if it’s coming out with a rough texture

@@ZiggysDesk Hi. I have Tamiya X12 & X31. No airbrush. Only brush. Maybe that's the reason.... :) :) But if it's quite easy to obtain a slick surface with "no metallic" paint, even with a brush, no good result with metallic paint from my side... :-/

Great build! I have building tamiya bikes since the 80's. They are quality kits. Nice clean work on the tank decals, looks like a seamless paint job. I think you meant 2000. This Suzuki GP was during the Kenny Roberts Junior during the 1999 season. He won the World Championship with the same bike, but with Telefonica Movistar sponsorship in 2000. It is a really nice kit indeed.

@canicetang88374 жыл бұрын
@@eugenerudman That's alright. I actually have that kit and the 2000 Kenny Roberts Junior winning kit as well. For the 1999 season, I will use it as a base and also got the Studio 27 transkit for the 1993 Kevin Schwantz's World Title winning 'Pepsi' version. It is essentially the same bike with different body parts that's all. So Ziggy used Scale Motorsport's Photo-etched kit as well. Your imagination can do anything with detailing, various versions and even transkit too. But that depends how crazy you want and how much your wallet can afford as well hahaha.
@eugenerudman4 жыл бұрын
@@canicetang8837 I'm quite happy to get a little crazy, especially with bike kits! two more great kits in my stash are the Fujimi RGV XR-74 1988, for which I also got the original Lucky Strike Schwantz sponsor decals. and most recently (in fact, the day before lockdown started in my country), I got the new Hasegawa GSX-R 750G 1986, which is a kit I've been hoping for for years, as I used to own one ;-)

If I donated a kit to the show for build would you consider? And as painful as it is to ask that I may eventually see the kit again built the way Tamiya intended? The complexity is intimidating and I was unable to commit, sold only the airbrush but yet my small collection grew and similar to those on your channel. I learned parts I thought were dry brushed are not and photo etch looks very difficult, just like the instructions did 25 years ago. Now I only need to preserve the decals. Thank you for sharing what others would not.
