Hi everyone! It's been a while again hasn't it....well if you watch this video then you will find out some pretty excellent news in regards to the channel and my ability to finally start uploading more frequently. I am really pumped for that as it is really quite embarrassing how slow my SM Survival progression has been! In this episode I first show you guys the "perfected" monorail and what I have done in order to make it work to the best of Scrap Mechanic's abilities (thanks Ang and others :]). I am quite happy with the monorail at this point and I won't be messing with it too much more. However...the main point of this video was to finally build my first semi-automated farm and start farming for fruits and vegetables that I will need to acquire some fancy equipment! I decided to only automate my watering for the time being as it seems to be the most crucial and tedious part of farming. I will eventually add automatic planting but for now the setup is absolutely great for my needs :) Unfortunately the video of me building the farm ended up having no audio so I compressed it into a narrated timelapse and made the best of the situation. I'm excited to be able to show you guys the farm sooner and I hope you enjoyed watching the episode as much as I enjoyed playing it!

10:55 In another playthrough I saw that the pipe blocks can be extended if you drag them like you would a normal block. You can economize a few of them this way. Or maybe I just saw it wrong, since seconds later you directly place an especially long pipe. The pump station looks cool. Btw it seems that this video took a lot of effort to make. Finishing art isn't easy. Be proud! 😤

Hey cosmo, i have a suggestion for your audio failure. You can have two things recording your audio. One will be the software and another will be a camera. Some people use a dslr or something similar as a face cam. Since you don't use a face cam you can still record your audio using one and I'm assuming you've a gopro with you, you can use that. It won't be perfect but it will still work. Hope it helps.

LOL You built the sister-monorail to the one I made across my bay. I did find a couple things - The rail glitches out and detaches if it spans across world tiles. You need to secure it to the ground right before your base disappears from view and again, right after it disappears. Then stick another post up out of the water and do the same again and again until you reach the end. Friction is a large reason for the sudden stops and bounces. The large sheet-metal roofing pieces from the shacks have some of the lowest friction in the game. Since mine sits on top of the rail, I lined the underside with those sheets and extended them down below the wheel base. Anyway, love the SM and Multiplayer videos all of you guys do!

Sorry to hear the suspension system didn't work, but I'm glad the piston glitch and support beam layout did the trick. The farm and your base are coming along nicely. I know it's been done a lot, but the piston crusher defense is a great, cheap(ish) solution for dealing with raids until you can afford to buy stuff from the trader.

you can set pistons to trigger with sensors. To use a sensor to trigger two or three pistons at a time each piston set has a sensor in the line, or a block passes a sensor as it expands. Set the sensors to switch rather than button and when it hits the end have a logic gate set to trip when every sensor is full and flip a nand (?) to turn off the piston string.

I mounted my saws on top of a 2 block tall wall on bearings and if you smack them with the hammer they get spinning fast and kill the bots

Soil plots are 3x3 blocks, so more reliable watering with a two block gap between the triggering blocks. Also, need to decide if two raids are a good thing for resources.

Your attention to design is really wonderful! The control panel in the monorail looks like a ticket booth and the switch on the farm is just so smooth and the colors are simple but elegant. And the pump shack looks so scrappy and dope! I don’t think any other youtubers really do this in the same way since chief. Thank you!

the first row doesn't get water because the sensor piston needs time to extend. maybe a timer could help where the signal goes first to the sensor piston and with delay to the other Pistons

It may be obselete now, buti still want to comment in case you need this help: Since the rail is 3-block wide and you have a 1 block gap between the 2 wheels, you can add pipes in the gap instead of those wierd glitchy thingys at the side, it can make it seem much more realistic, almost like a real gondola

I saw that watering system kinda in one of John Bane's videos, only he had the sensor on the cannon and 1 block for every plot of soil. the mistake you made with watering the first row is there is no block for that, sensor slides out but didn't get triggered by a block the block you added just moved the triggerpoint 1 block forward and made the triggertime 2 blocks long, not 2 triggers. Easy fix though

When you build bots won't spawn within a certain distance so if you build around the island they won't spawn on it and the cant get to yr farm if you want the easy way

Cool! I hope that the extra videos will help cover the job you no longer have. One drastic measure is you could move the farm to be more centered (test it with a 9 plot [I think is minimum] to see where the bots spawn) and move the whole farm there. Cool design. Looking forward to more!

The tier 3 metal cant be destroyed by haybots or totebots so you don’t need to to worry about them destroying your farm

"Compressing one and a half hour of raw footage into a two-minute time lapse" Meanwhile i cry in *spending two days recording for a 30-second clip.* Curse this game and it's inability to save/reload from in-game. CURSE IT! :P *F* in the chat for missing audio. Speaking of, when i'd launch my editor (Movie Maker. Shut up, it's actually pretty good!) sometimes i'd get no audio at all. Turns out all you have to do to fix _that_ issue is force stop 'Audiosrv' through task manager. It will restart automatically in few seconds and BAM! Audio! Don't even have to restart the software. Don't know what editor you use, but this trick might work with it as well. Beats restarting the whole computer. Looks like the watering systems skips the first row because by the time the sensor extends the whole rig is already past it. Move the trigger block just in front of where the sensor is parked. It will still skip the row on the way out, but will get it on the way back.

Kosmo heybots and greenes don’t attack tier 2 and 3 mettle so you don’t need all the saws around your farm

It would help having a bit distance between the wall (which should be higher and probably like railings with two rows of space inbetween) and the crops - would also help to have more space to install the planting system later...

why don't you have the same switch for the lights but make them use the pistons, and the lights, so you can go underwater with a light source, it wold look cool and it's not wasting resources if anything its making use of the resources that you have already used.

you know that you had 2 raids at a time? That's why u had many farmbots one way to solve this is to move th farm aside like 16 blocks so it's on one chunk cuz now you have it on two chunks so you have two timers which means two raids.
