Hey everyone! On today's episode of my Scrap Mechanic Survival adventure I set out to build a boat! A catamaran jet boat to be specific! I've wanted to build a thruster powered boat in this game ever since Survival came out, and although it is certainly not at the top of the priority list, I still couldn't resist the urge to finally do it! I set out to build a relatively big boat and very shortly realized that I am going to need a LOT more power to move the thing at any sort of decent speed. After going through several design changes, I finally settled on a smaller hull and 3 fully upgraded thrusters! Still quite a lot....especially considering how much fuel those thrusters guzzle! I am definitely going to work on making another version of the jet boat the is much faster and more efficient, so stay tuned for that! I still really enjoyed building this catamaran and I am proud of how it came out! I hope you guys enjoyed watching this episode, and I'll see you on the next one!

Just a handy food tip: Redbeet: Tier 1, fills hunger and thirst equal Tomato: Tier 1, fills thirst the most Carrot: Tier 1, fills hunger the most Blueberry: Tier 2, fills hunger and thirst equal Banana: Tier 2, fills hunger the most Orange: Tier 2, fills thirst the most Broccoli: Tier 3, fills hunger the most Pineapple: Tier 3, fills thirst the most - Tier 1 raids only give a few haybots and greenies - Tier 2 raids give many haybots and greenies - Tier 3 raids give loads of haybots and greenies, a few tapebots too. Also, 1 to 3 boss bots. Hopefully this helps when you are exploring! If you keep this in mind, you will waste less food :)

I don't know if this might interest you, but I think that instead of having that second seat, you could have some chests, with your necessities like food, drinks, extra fuel and parts in case you need to repair. That boat is awesome, I really love it. I'll try a similar design in my game.

I am curious if you considered putting the gas tanks in the front sections of the 2 long sides. It may have been able to balance the boat out a bit with the seat and thruster being quite heavy also.

Quick tip about whieght and bonancy Whieght canselses out boyancy Example: bayancy:5 Whieght:2 Overall boyance: 3 So pay attention to the boyance and whieght

That's your first survival boat and second boat over all in the game, to be honest, it's better than anything I've built. I have a chemical pond across the water from my tree house, I swam over with a Large Chest, a stack of wood, half stack of bubble blocks, a pump, switch, and food. After I filled the chest, I wrapped it in bubble blocks, and some wood. Then had to swimming hammer it back to shore. So yes, much better than me. And you used as many component kits on that boat as I've managed to collect in total in my usable world, and even with the lowered rate; I'm jealous

You could go back to the single boat design you had art the start and add 'helicopter landing ski like' arms to the sides. There is an actual boat like that irl for rough waves.

Also I've heard the fuel usage is determined by the weight you're pushing. Not sure more a theory.

Kosmo - "I'm thirsty" - then proceeds to eat the worst thirst providing item in his inventory lol Don't forget that T2 and T3 wood have higher buoyancy, because sure, adding metal to wood totally makes it more buoyant.... To keep the aesthetic you may need to delete the underside and put a mix of bubble wrap and higher tier wood there and show the normal wood on top.

Thanks to your inspiration I've just made my first jet speed boat. In truth nothing more than a seat on a surf board powered by 2 max level thrusters. I used a chest and the fuel tank as a keel to keep it upright. It travels from the mech station around the start area and all the way to dwarf beach on just under 100 fuel.

Put thrusters above water, and make 90%of the boat out of bubble wrap and you'll get more speed and you can use either less thrusters or turn the power down. Both will save fuel

I would think wood3 might be a better material for the outer hull. it's buoyancy is insane compared to wood1 (higher durability doesn't hurt either). separating the wood3 into different sections that don't touch each other directly makes each section calculate floatation separately. that might make the boat ride higher in the water.

Should have made stripes red instead of blue, would have gone faster. :D Speaking of going fast, don't get more than four jets. From my testing the creation of similar size does not really get faster after that, just starts chugging fuel like a college student chugs redbull. However i do think you can make your cat faster by turning it into a trimaran with big center hull and two small outrigers a block or two wide. Just enough to keep it from tipping. As for materials to make the boat out of, Wood 3 is best for durability/buoyancy, but requires metal. Bubble block is great, but one tap with a hammer and it goes pop. Strangely enough the caution block is +1 buoyancy compared to Wood 1 and only takes 10 wood and 1 paint to make. Can't imagine entire boat made of it, but might help on the bottoms until you can craft better materials. As a side note, what's with this one guy leaving six comments in ten minutes? Literally 10% of this video's comments at this time are from one guy. This isn't twitter, comments _can_ be edited! lol
