Hey! Thanks for watching my video! It's my dream to grow this channel into something that can provide support me and my family. I don't have a Patreon or a SubscribeStar so the best way you can support me is to share the videos with as many people as you can. Posting on social medias,
Reddit, or anywhere you think could help drive traffic. Also KZbin recognizes watch time over all else so every minute watched helps KZbin know that this content is worth pushing out. A huge THANK YOU goes out to all of you who watch the videos, comment on each video and make everything this channel is possible. New video next Friday!

I really like this. I’ve been thinking about attempting something like this for my Equinox. It’s amazing what all I can haul in it with a bit of creative thinking, but sheet goods are out, unless they’re already broken down, of course - which would defeat the purpose of needing large sheets to begin with (for certain projects)!😬 Thanks for a great idea, as well as real world testing. And if my two cents is worth anything, I much prefer this video style where we get to hear your thought process. 🙂

Great idea and work around solution. Also like the 'hooligan test' at the end. It shows how sturdy the rack is. So is it time for sofa project 2.0? Noticed the slight changes to the video format combining the various suggestions people offered. I think this works great.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. The new couch video should be a one time video this time. Not quite a 2.0 but a project I've been thinking about for about a year

Nice - do you need to worry that the metal buckles will vibrate in the wind and hit the roof? Maybe change so they are inside the car?
@lancelavallee8487

They will rattle. Putting the buckles inside does two things. Prevents roof damage and you can physically see if the buckles are engaged.

You would think so but after driving about 60 miles or so they haven't hit the roof once even on the highway. It's pretty versatile so it wouldn't be too difficult to put the buckles on the inside but I'd be more worried about bumping my head into something metal when getting into the car so for me I'm gonna keep them on top but yeah you can definitely put them anywhere you want.

cheap, simple, and easy. What a great idea. I love it. keep going, but why not put the cross pieces on the underside of the runners.

I needed a place for the knobs to go and this way I have 2 pieces of wood being pressed together with the heavy objects rather than being pulled apart.

From personal experience, you are set up for a broken windshield. The structure of the roof is allong the drain rails and the first supports touching the roof should span across the width of the roof, not from front to back. You may still be OK, but given your previous videos, I suspect you will overload the roof's internal supports give the current pressure points and experience damage if you add more than 250lbs to the top. Good luck and how I'm wrong.

Yeah if you look closely in the last few shots I widened the base considerably so it is riding on the frame rather than the roof.
