@Calthecool2 ай бұрын
@@bradthebiker I am technically over-volting the motor since it’s only rated for 36v 1000w, but it doesn’t really matter. The limiting factor is the heat and the RPM that makes the rotor fling apart, and I’m probably nowhere near that speed yet. You could probably run this motor at 3000w 96v as long as you don’t overheat it.

My neighbor found an E300S at the dump and brought it to me because it looked totally fine. Ordered a charger for it. Had to replace the batteries with some lithium ones with the same output and anyway that thing will go 11 miles on flat ground at 14mph. I zoom around on it at track days and stuff. Your battery mod is insane! I wish mine went that fast. The weight joke was 10/10

If you could do this type of build but with a bike, that would be awesome! I love the videos, keep up the great work! P.S. yes I know about the old bike video you did, the difference with this one that I'm talking about is that it's on a budget.
@Calthecool3 ай бұрын
@@ovxrtex The problem with budget builds of anything electric is the battery. You can either build it yourself to save money, or buy a cheap battery. If you build the battery wrong or buy an unsafe battery they will both explode, so I really don’t recommend people doing either of those (unless you have years of electronics experience) So if you keep that in mind, the cheapest you could convert an existing bike to a 1000w ebike would be around $350 ($150 motor kit, $200 battery) However I wouldn’t consider that a fast ebike, to get a fast one that’s 3000w it would be around $950 ($450 motor kit, $500 battery) So this scooter being $400 is really a special situation from me building the battery and buying the scooter for $50.

@@Calthecoolcould you do a battery video? or do you think I should take an actual class on electronics if I want to learn more?
@Calthecool3 ай бұрын
@@ovxrtex there’s really no need to take classes anymore unless you are getting a degree/certificate, there are a bunch of KZbin videos that show how to do it. I’ll probably do a battery video next time I build a battery, but I have no idea when that will be.

Thatss an amazing build!! i just wanted to ask, about how long does the battery last?
@Calthecool3 ай бұрын
The battery is about 4x the capacity of the stock one, so it would last 4x as long if you were riding the same speed. Of course this one goes way faster than a stock scooter, so it won’t last that long normally. I’ve never even used the full battery on one ride, it would easily last over an hour riding like I was in this video.

Have you ever thought of building a hybrid bike
@Calthecool24 күн бұрын
@@matthewnorman9803 yes, but I’ve built three motorized bikes in the past and the engines just aren’t that high quality and having to mix the gas and bump start them is annoying. I do think that if I could find a good frame and I could somehow have the hub motor in the rear wheel and have the chain drive from the engine it would be a interesting build but it would take a while and I don’t really want to mess with all that right now.

Hey man, how much would it cost to make a 72v battery or a 84v battery? would I be able to reuse my old battery packs? I have a 52v 30ah battery and a 48v 20ah battery.
@CalthecoolАй бұрын
@@mviivs assuming the batteries aren’t that old and worn out, your first step would be to take them apart and salvage the cells. Just make sure to not pull the nickel off of the negative end of the cells, because it can pull a hole in the cell and make it unusable. Also don’t grind the ends of the cells, because the cells are steel with a thin layer of nickel on the outside, and if you remove the nickel it will be impossible to spot weld to. After that you can arrange the cells in a 20 series configuration and find out how many you can use in each parallel group. Look up the cell, and see what the max discharge current is. Multiply that number by the number of cells in parallel, then buy a BMS that’s equal to or less than that amount of current. Also buy a spot welder, some wire, some nickel strip, shrink wrap, and some cell spacers. Then you can assemble it like I did in the video, or look at other videos on how to assemble batteries. I’m probably going to make a how-to video eventually, but it might be a while.
