Building a small Boeing 747-200 plastic model Air Canada (Revell 1:390 kit)

Because I liked my previous Revell Boeing 747 -200 plastic model, I want to try another Boeing plastic model made by Revell and I choose this Revell Boeing Air Canada. The scale of this kit is 1:390, a little bigger than the previous model but with a cool white color and better fitting parts. I can say that it was a pleasure to build this model. It was easy and fun, especially because I didn't have to do major changes to the fuselage. Only some minor adjustments on the joints with Tamiya White Putty.
After gluing the parts, I use a gray primer from Mr. Surface Primer 1000 in order to get a realistic cool white color of the fuselage. Decals were easy to apply and also fit well with this Revell Air Canada model fuselage. The big one on the tail looks even greater after two layers of varnish. Overall, is a great kit that you have to build.

Yes....let's say that you buy the equipment but after that you have to learn how to use it and after that how to mix the paint in order to get the desired colors and after that are fitting problems that take you all the time :)

For this kit, I use lacquer paints from Mr. Hobby and I spray them in my garage with a 3200 rpm fan in order to absorb the smell. They smell awful. I doubt you can use them in your apartment with a hand brush. So, the answer is yes; you need an airbrush, compressor, and a spray cabinet. But, if you have the kit with small bottle paints from Revell you can use the brush in multiple paint layers with a paint retarder (it will increase the drying time and let the paint spread on the fuselage).

I also like the Revell kits like Porsche Boxster 1/24 scale, Boeing 747 KLM 1/450 scale, Heinkel, now I work on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner 1/144 scale. A real relaxation for me are also Tamiya kits, I have a Nissan 370 Fairlady 1/24 scale and Honda Fireblade 1/12 scale in my further projects. Thank you! Wish you the same.

Is very simple. If you have Revell glue, just place glue on edges and fix the parts (with duct tape or cloth clamps for wings) for 10 -15 minutes.

@@SmallScaleFun hahah, I have exactly the same situation, I'm working on MiG-29, decided to have a rest. Another reason why I'm doing it, I have 2 airplanes (this Boeing and Airbus A350-900), I failed them. I have all necessary things at home for modeling, moved to another place. Have no idea I'm going to start modeling (lol continue 😂😂) so I bought 2 planes, and made them only with brushes..... Technically A350 looks pretty good, from 1m distance but if you have a closer look 😅😭. So I decided to get good paints and make them as best as I can. Boeing is ready (only painting left, waiting for a shipment), and Airbus is still in his box. What to do with old models? Maybe to make them abandoned? Or try to make them fly?😂😂😂😂 (Not a one way ticket)

What do you use for glueing the decals when I do that the decals go bad

Hello! After finishing painting the model, I apply a coat of varnish. When the varnish is dry (1-2 days) I apply the decals and I do like this: - cut the decal and put it in warm water for 30 -60 seconds - if the decal is easy to apply and I already know that will fit correctly in the position that I want - I will apply TAMIYA MARK FIT STRONG on the surface model. If I need to adjust the decal, I will apply water to the surface model because the solution will soften the decal and I won't be able to adjust it. - apply the decal - remove the excess Tamiya Mark Fit Strong or water with an ear stick (the decal will stay on the model surface ) - apply Tamiya Mark Fit Strong 2 or 3 times on decal after each layer is dry (3-5 minutes) - apply another varnish coat (flat or gloss) I like Tamiya Mark Fit Strong because is a good softener for decals, I never had a problem with the paint or varnish, and is a single solution bottle :)) If you need more info, please let me know. Found the part #29 in this assembly set. It is look like two pins. But in assembling manual it absent. May be somebody know what is this? I guess - it is the remain from other modification of this plane and doesn't fit to this model.

Hey! It has a small gap in the middle of the plane; you need to push the stand up and forward. After that, place a small point of glue for clear parts. (for my model it was like that) Thank you!

Hello You should definitely build this Boeing 747, the kit is cheap, the decals are greater, and is a great addition to your stash. Also, is easy to build, and yes I recommend it to build in a spare time.

Yes is a nice level 3 kit (if you bought the 1:144 scale version), it is on my list :)) For my next projects, I have Boeing 737 from Zvezda and Airbus A380 from Revell I just can't wait to build them

No, is not water. After I emerge decal in water in order to come off from holding paper I use Tamiya Mark Fit Strong to soften and fix the decals. After that, I will apply the varnish (gloss or flat).

For me is a must-have :) Without something to softener the decals you won't be able to fix them. Revell has - Decal Soft and is very cheap. If you want to try something better, use Micro Scale set or Tamiya Mark fit Strong. I use Tamiya Mark Fit Strong solution even when I'm applying decals on tires. (I have a Toyota Supra at work and I mess up the rims paint, but the video will be out until Monday and you can see how to apply decals on tires)
