@8:06 little bit of info as someone who has spent countless hours on the end of a grinder, you may indeed need the tool to loosen the disk if it were over tightened, but when replacing the disk, just hold down the button that stops the blade from turning and just tighten the fucker by pushing/pulling on the disk whilst it's locked, all you'll need is a small amount of a twist to tighten it, that way you'll find removing a spent disk is just as easy as pushing in the locking button and again, grabbing hold of the outer edge of the disk and adding a little pressure in the direction that loosens it, honestly, using the locking mechanism/button and hand tightening the disk is perfectly safe, you do not need to use that tool to tighten the blade on and in most cases, if you do use the tool to tighten the blade, it just means you'll need the tool to untighten it, so just do without the tool entirely, it's really only use is for when someone over tightens the grinding/cutting disk and it can't be untightened by hand. Otherwise good luck with the build!

Sir, please talk with a theatre practitioner. They have much easier ways to build lighter panels and framing. Just for these tasks.
@LuxTaylorArt2 ай бұрын
@@AnichM2nd thanks for the tip! I'm lucky to have theatrical fab experience myself, in fact, and to have some good friends with similar skillsets. Thanks to the intensity and manner of the way this set is going to be used, combined with the level and type of surface finish I need it to maintain (even through heavy use) for an entire season of the show, lightweight is pretty intentionally not anywhere near my top priority! But there will absolutely be future cases, both on some peripheral parts of this build and on other more generally lightweight or low-impact sets where that'll be the type of approach I use again 😄

It would also be awesome if you could hire VFX artists. I have that friend of mine who went to VFS who I believe is still interested. But as I understand it, Ian is also a little hesitant about this sometimes, because what if he can't communicate what he wants well enough and it turns out too different and there is likely a bunch of other reasons too that makes it hard to let go more of it. Probably also a habit thing.

Yeah! It's hard to figure out how to expand and delegate, especially after spending so long as a micro-studio, but it's something we're gradually working on, and who knows what the future will look like ✨
