Totally agree. No stock motor Subaru will hold that power for extended time. Why waste time building so much power for it to detonate.

You should do a video where you actually degree the cams. Especially like you said, after you rotate they're always slightly off. Should be able to pick up some free horsepower by dialing in the cam timing. I know that would require a much higher spec build with adjustable cam gears and higher lift more duration camshafts.

I gotta go to my tuner here in Quebec (Lachute Performance) Sadge my friend :( Also I didnt know that its bad to have a after market air filter + j-pipe together regardless of whatever map Since It creates too much boost that it can damage the engine or worse blow it up? Tempted to do a small build on my ‘19 STI with the type RA. It’s got 72k, meticulous maintenance schedule. Do I rebuild? Buy a built block? Or just send it

Eh not too much, motel, vavoline are good choices. Typically stock engines 10W40 is what I use

What's the piece of plastic you're using at 12:01? I'm assuming it's to not pinch the timing belt while tightening these screws?
@Smeedia
@Smeedia 4 ай бұрын
Correct, I forget the size off the top of my head. But the thickness of the plastic is OE Spec for Gap. Just makes it easy to set clearance

I’d like to know how long the owner can run a build like that with that much power.. let’s say the owner drove it with respect and occasional rips.

A year or two maybe longer. So many variables to put an accurate number on it

I have hundreds of stock motor customers at this point at 500+whp. It’s obviously hard to keep track of all of them and mileage but I have several examples going on 1-2 years and 50k+ miles without issue. One example I will point out is a 21 STI I tuned at 5k miles with a original engine and 6466 combo, made 696whp @ 32PSI and is still living to this day 2 years later and is now at 60k miles on the engine. Ownership will dictate 90% on how long something like this will last, treat it like a racecar and it will break like a racecar

No signs of it while tuning, entire fuel systems been replaced at this point as well

@@Smeedia that’s awesome. I tried the good ole aeromotive fpr and no dampener but no luck. Now going parallel to hopefully end the issue altogether. 340 & 1050’s. Figured parallel would help cure the stumble and keep things healthier
