Great video. Where you connect your rubber fitting to your pop up tank (the designated drain valve) is there much pressure put on it?. Asking as I feel I am going to copy that idea this year!
@AdamJulyan3 жыл бұрын
No not much it's just in a bit of a bad position as it can suck on the fish and mark them so best to put a grill over it to stop the fish sealing it.

Morning Adam,heard you say solar panels,have you a standard 4kw system, do you have battery storage thanks,Ian putting 1.2kw pv system on my filter house
@AdamJulyan3 жыл бұрын
I have a 7.5kw system saves me a fortune. I would like a battery but I use too much power so it would never really get charged and the excess power is used to heat my house so don't use much gas 🙂. When you have a pond a solar system can really make a difference.

Hi Adam not related to this video but what bsp size is that T peice on the top of your air supply where it connects to the gauge? On your fry tank Can't seem to find one? Thanks Jason
@AdamJulyan3 жыл бұрын
That is a really good question. but the problem is i have no idea Ive been trying to work it out as i read your comment yesterday I know I bought a 1/4" gauge but I also bought a selection of reducers so the actually pipe is reduced to 1/4" so the gauge fits but I don't know what its reduced from. The reducer is a stainless threaded reducer from pipestock.com if you have a look there for parts you might find something. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful Adam
@jasonhind41723 жыл бұрын
@@AdamJulyan Hi Adam that's fine thanks for checking for me. I just liked the idea of the gauge when I see it on your video if there is a problem on the system somewhere the gauge would help you notice the problem 😉

I have to set something similar up in the not too distant future. So some questions if you would be so kind... 1 What make is the tank? It looks like "Show Koi", as Aquosis are a darker blue and the frames are metallic in appearance. 2 What size is the outlet on the tank? 3 What size is the inlet on the vortex? 4 How big is the vortex diameter? 5 What's the reason for the plastic bag on the heater? 6 Have you had the pressure filter running elsewhere? Just wondering what you are doing for bio?
@AdamJulyan3 жыл бұрын
Yeah its a show koi vat its 2m x 1m The outlet is 1.5" I think as the 1.5" boot fits it The vortex Is 3" The vortex is 2ft wide but I wouldn't have used it if i didnt have it sat in the garden anyway. Just to keep the heater out of direct rain it is waterproof but id rather it not get rained on. Yeah It's used Pressure filter Ill keep on top of water changes so it'll be fine.
@themanfromvolantis3 жыл бұрын
@@AdamJulyan Thanks Adam. The reason I asked about the bag on the heater is because I had an electric heater made by Cloverleaf. I was verbally assured that it would work outdoors and was waterproof. The cable was shorter than specified so I had to get an electrician our to extend it. For the first winter it worked. Then it started tripping the RCD. I discovered that water was somehow getting into the end where it shouldn't be. Unfortunately it was out of warranty because although i only ran it for one winter, i had it sat in a box at home for the 12 months prior to that. I wasn't overly concerned as I had got an ASHP by then... Which has also gone kaput. If you look on KZbin for aquarium overflows there are a couple of designs that go up and over the side of the tank. I have used these in the past in vats and they work. Stick a ball valve on the end to control the flow, then you can trickle in and overflow out without the hassle of water changes. I've also used a zeolite shower over the tank before, to keep the ammonia at bay. But obviously this means you can't use salt in there too.

I was just wondering what might be in the external filter is it just sponges or with siporax aswel
@AdamJulyan3 жыл бұрын
It's the sponges it's just a standard Oase pressure filter.

Hi Adam I have a question. I have 15 koi in a 30,000 ltr pond, water is clear and chemicals, nitrites etc are all spot on, the fish are all regularly scrapped, nothing, temp is around 15 degrees. None of my fish flash or jump, the all appear happy during the day. QUESTION. In early evening the safe 5 fish every evening start flashing on and off for a few hours and one koi during this time start to jump. I have watched them All through the night and NOTHING. It all stops, they sleep and In the morning all is back to normal. What on earth is this all about??? Has anyone on you channel any idea
@somersetkoi83093 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul just an idea but have you compared your ph between the day (when there ok) and the time they start flashing?

Brilliant video Adam, can't wait to see the next 😎👍🏼 I've just ordered a Profidrum eco 45/40 from Absolute Koi 👌 My drum should arrive this coming week and I wondered if you have a bit of advice for me setting it up gravity fed please. ie does and don't Thanks again and take care. 🐟😎👍🏼
@AdamJulyan3 жыл бұрын
Great choice in drum filter 👍 There are only two good points your pond water level needs to be constant no dropping and filling so a ball cock is a good way to keep it full and replace the water the drum uses. Get your water level and height of the drum spot on I usually put the water level just below the top of the stainless waste shoot so you get max flow. When setting the probes in the filter try to get it so that the drum runs about every 1 hour or 30 mins at most. you may need to keep adjusting this for the first week or two as the screen matures. if you don't keep adjusting it eventually it will get stuck on cleaning cycle. Thanks, Glad you like the videos 🙂

@@AdamJulyan awesome thanks for the advice 🙏. I've wanted a Profi for a long time and after watching your videos they really sold it to me. Your water really sparkles in your main pond and I'm sure it will sparkle in the fry tank but its too hard to tell because of the amount of fish haha. 😎🐟👍🏼
