I live in a temperate rain forest, and a tourist asked me once if it rained much. Our course that day it was, as it had the day before, and the day before. . . . . I asked her in return, "Is it green?" And she looked around at forests and bushes and flowers and. . . . . green. As for me, I'll take the rain any day. I love the rain. I love green.

You are out there alone working extremely hard to complete your projects no whining no bitching just head down pushing forward to complete what you set out to do. I wish you all the luck and good fortune you deserve. I've learned so much from watching you. Not just in the way of building and crafting but of heart and soul and dedication of man living the way he wants to and loves to. God bless and thank you!!!!

Congratulations on seeing your rain water catchment system working. There is something cozy being out of the weather on such days. Please keep out of Dad's way, Cali when he's hauling around those heavy timbers! That work must be way better than a gym membership.... lifting, hauling bending, pushing, digging, chopping etc, and of course, throwing an orange toy. Then the companionship of a paddle on the lake is always pleasant to relax too. You have an enviable life, Shawn.

Shawn’s work ethic inspires me to get up off my duff & get on with my projects. Watching the work & listening to the explanations for why it’s being done a certain way shows just how much thought & analysis has gone into his work. To be able to objectively visualize what’s needed to arrive at a desired conclusion is a remarkable talent. Couple that with a strong work ethic & remarkable things happen. Must be very rewarding.

Terri Kopke I find that astounding. That you are alive at a time when you can watch one of the greatest men of SELF RELIANCE at work and you tune in for a dog !!! I'm gob smacked !!! The Spirit, mind and body of this man stands shoulders above thousands in this world. He has the attributes of the early settlers of his nation and most westernised nations , and CHOOSES to embrace the challenges of planning, building, planting, etc etc with methods and tools we have cast off in the hundreds , and he shows the way of history is still accomplishable in this day and age !!! There are so many facets of this man and his journey that could be taught in our schools, that would equip our children to be far greater human beings than we have now. I've lived long enough to to know that men like Shawn a exceedingly rare. I hope you can look beyond your pet infatuation and see what is really going on here in these videos. I for one see the dog when the master throws a stick or its training hunting tool but I see this human and the nature he works in , up front and personal. His choice to work with , for, and in nature, to maintain the greatest balance for all is a remarkable attribute ; which he has obviously chosen to hone as he proceeds thru this phase of his life. Soooooooooo much and many learning from one man's journey !!! I stand in awe !!!!!

It’s slowly starting to look like your new homes coming along. You have been held up so much with the rain this last few weeks.Hopefully it will get a bit better soon. And here I am hoping it rains soon just for cooler weather in the U.K. lol! I don’t like the heat at all and it’s been very hot for us lately.Oh my gosh you never cease to amaze me with your scenic video at the end ..When your own little Pocahontas sits in the front of your kayak and leads you on your adventure. She even did some scouting today too lol.Cali is such a great companion for you .You don’t realise how dense the trees are until you see them from above..It’s just so beautiful and I know you know and appreciate how Lucy you are to be able to be one with these surroundings .Love n Light to you both 🥰

Another masterpiece. What is it about this guy that has us riveted on each shovel full of dirt, each nail he pounds.. I find it incredible that he has our attention at this level. This entire story is so dynamic. Can’t wait to see what he has planned for the next timber. 🌲

Beautiful, can you imagine the girls friends asking what dies your Mom and Dad do? My Dad Is Shawn James. Hold up the Shawn James . Now my kids ask me what I was watching I told them they had the same response. That man is a beast. All I can say is your Truly Blessed. Prayers to you and your family and Cali. Wish you could build us a cabin. How epic would that be. Keep cool up there in Canada in that heat wave. 🙏🏼♥️🥰🐾🐾🐾🐾

Shawn you’re one blessed dude, and your cinematic skills are becoming equally as impressive as your building skills. Hats off my friend. Thank you for another truly enlightening and enjoyable video. It brought peace to my soul.

Besides the hard and great work you are achieving, in each video my happy moments are to see Cali bringing you her toy and you throwing it, maybe you are or not aware of that but she's starring in each video and she part of the adventure and seeing her growing getting older it's just amazing the bound between the two of you and that makes me happy for her too

Shawn and Cali in the canoe gliding along the surface of the waters in Paradise! This reminded me so much of Dick Proenneke when he said all he could hear was his paddle cutting through the water and distant water falls. Then the vision of you writing at his desk in Alaska. The legacy continues and my Kind Thanks to The James Family! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
