when starting on real steam locomotives, the reverser is set to full and power added slowly with the regulator. As speed is built up the regulator is left open and the reverser slowly backed off to control engine speed. Limiting engine speed with the reverser allows selecting between power and efficiency.

@@Dozav7 your welcome. In the second video, Kan said it was supposed to be a railroad from the early days of steam; It clicked in my head why the reverser wasn't acting like normal. Back then, the reverser only selected between full forward or full reverse so the game not letting you do much between forward, neutral, and reverse is historically accurate.

Reason you got less for logs cause the resources need be unloaded onto the platform of the freight depot or roll into it. Some of the logs landed on road bed didnt roll and didnt count and de spawned as lost load. Need move tracks closer to platform. Also other locations will require supplies example iron mine need wooden beams made by saw mill to use to surrport mining tunnels and to generate iron ore. To get beams you need take logs from lumber camp to saw mill.

Logs earn you $10 each, your track at the freight house is too far from the dock and the logs are not falling into the sell trigger. Any selling location the tracks need to be close, the loading stations need to be like your freight house tracks to avoid dropping freight beyond the car.

As someone who has a bit of experience building a railway (modded minecraft) if you want the loco to be pulling the wagons both ways building a loop at both the depot and the logging yard would allow you to run round the train giving you more stopping power coming back to the depot and more pulling power up to the camp creating one of these loops at the depot platform might also help and save track and tight turns. Great video though an entirely original concept would love to see a British steam version of this game.

kAN! I have a train driving tip for you! In real life, the reverser on a train works like the transmission on a car. On a train, max power is the reverser full forward. If you want more speed, you can dial back the reverser to almost the neutral point. Although, depending on the realism of the game, this might not be modeled.
@wring75183 жыл бұрын
The reverser only determines the direction the train goes in the throttle determines the speed of the engine
@g.s.8633 жыл бұрын
@@wring7518 At least in real life, the reverser determines the power:speed ratio (farther from the center is more power, closer to the center is more speed). Like I said, I'm not sure if this is simulated in-game.
@wring75183 жыл бұрын
@@g.s.863 in real life the reverser only has 3 points of action Forward Neutral and Reverse and the throttle on the engine determines how much power it uses dependent on the gear you're in.

5:08 You can drive the train in first person without pressing F by using the regulator, reverser, brake etc so you can run around without having to be locked in the cabin of the train and UI. You can also see the water level meter near the fire pit if you crouch on the left side and there is a boiler pressure gauge that works above the fire pit. If you do it this way you can slide the windows on the side of the train open and regardless with window open or closed you can use R and T i believe not 100% on the keybinds to lean left and right to look out to the side. Word of warning there is no auto brake apply if you drive this way you will have a runner on your hands if you don't set the brake. Hope this helps!
@MegaHarvickFan293 жыл бұрын
I think the issue you are having with the inconsistent pricing of the logs is due to how far away the track is from the platform. In other words, some of the logs aren't being registered as delivered. I would move the track so that the ties are just shy of touching the base of the platform. You should be getting $10 per log.

I'm pretty new to trains, but I'm _sure_ the track layers of the 1800s must've had _some_ kind of tool to help them make sure they were laying them straight. Even just a couple chains pinned to the ballast (groundwork) piles would've helped.

I live in NW Washington State. Nearby up in the mountains there's an old ghost town that used to be a coal mining town called Monte Cristo.
