I'm sure that is satisfying progress. All of a sudden, all the hard work up to this point becomes worth all the effort. Good on you

It's going to be awesome when I have it down off the rotisserie permanently.

Keep saying I don’t think this will be too hard/bad. It’s that positive outlook that will keep you going!!! Great work!!!

It's gets me in trouble too. I've severely underestimated how long some of these projects will take.

This is great work! I bought a cd00a for my 1J swap in my Z but I ended up using my old mk3 R154 trans. I kept the trans mount and it fit pretty well. You’ll probably have more fun with your 6 speed though. 😃

Making great progress on this. Let me guess, you got a roll bar? Realistically you would have been fine with a rubber mount on the trans. You just don't want to go the other way and have the trans more rigid than the engine mounts. We ran solid mounts on our engine and a rubber trans mount for years without a problem.

Good to know! It was easier to mount on the Energy Suspension poly mount over the stock CD mount anyway.

I think you should make a provision for your exhaust to run through the mount so it won’t have to hang low.
@BLOKgarageАй бұрын
That is one thing I might have to modify on it. Figured it might be easier to do that when I build the exhaust.

I'd love to hear your thoughts (assuming you haven't already talked about it in a past video), on why you chose Apex over other options like T3, etc. I just got my first 280Z and and debating what to do. My main motivation is getting hubs that let me mount disc breaks in front of the hub rather than behind the hub like stock. I'd also love splined inputs for the diff and hubs.
@BLOKgarageАй бұрын
I chose Apex due to wanting to get rid of the stock stub shafts, rear diff upgrade, and discs all the way around. Then it came down to price and options. The T3 stuff looks very nice but its quite a bit more expensive than Apex, which isn't cheap itself. I will be doing a full install and review video(s) of the Apex kit once its time for final assembly btw.

Do we have a video of the roof skinning??? Truly interested!
@BLOKgarageАй бұрын
Should be a couple more weeks! Just waiting on something to come in...
@craigfiles70672 ай бұрын
I personally would have used a rubber mount just to remove some of the nvh that would happen due to it being poly bushed . You wouldn't have noticed any slop due to the rubber mount as the engine is poly bushed.

I'm not too worried about the NVH. It's not going to be a daily driver or anything.

looks good but i would have through bolted it with some crushed tubes, i think the riv nuts will eventually fail due to torque and vibrations
@BLOKgarage2 ай бұрын
I honestly almost did that actually. Went back and forth a bunch but settled on the rivnuts for now. If these don't last I will most likely go that way.

Did we miss a video? Last we saw the spare wheel well was just getting replace. Now it looks like the roof is on?
@BLOKgarageАй бұрын
Didn't miss one! This video was supposed to be about the roof skin swap but something came up so I couldn't finish it yet. I touch on it at the beginning of the video.

Nice work on the mount but not a fan of the Rivnut, should have drilled straight through the chassis and welded a tube in to spread the load across the chassis leg
@BLOKgarageАй бұрын
I thought about that. I could still change my mind and do that before I get it off the rotisserie.
