In this series I am building an off grid treehouse cabin in the forest. I build in a sustainable and ecological way in the wilderness and nature. This is episode 6 of The Treehouse Experiment documentary on my channel Building in Nature. The tree house is built in a big oak tree in a beautiful forest in The Netherlands. In this episode the treehouse platform is finished, a spiral staircase is added and a fire pit is made. And, winter is coming! Also I show a piece of a music video I made of the treehouse building and the treehouse platform as an awesome stage! ‪@desterrenwacht‬ KZbin link to the music video: • De Sterrenwacht - Duiv...
I’m Ruud. A designer and filmmaker from The Netherlands. I design and make things.
I hope you enjoy the building process. Have a nice day!

Keep up the great work my friend Love the idea od a Big tree house like that, maybe one day? I did build my daughter a smaller tree house over 3 years ago and I'm still very proud of it and I do remember how it made me feel good when I was going through the stages of built. I hope and wish you that that feeling will stay with you for ever after you complete your Built. All the Best

It is also known as a plum line it’s been used for thousands of years in all types of constructions, including in the building of the pyramids. It’s is the number one way of making sure that what you are building is perfectly straight. I have one that’s been handed down for over 6 generations they liked things to look pretty as well as functioning.

Don't those fasteners stuck in the tree's trunk harm its health?
@BuildingInNature
@BuildingInNature 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for asking! I explain this in part 1. These bolts are especially designed to not harm the tree. The tree grows around it like it does when growing a branch. The design makes it also possible for the tree to expand outwards, so the tree keeps growing as it normally would.

While I respect your carpentry skills I have a different opinion on the word "treehouse". To me a real treehouse sits on top of big branches and is totally supported by the tree. And, my idea of a treehouse doesn't follow traditional house building logic. Typical homes have lots of 90 degree angles and everything is on the same level. I like to look at the tree and let it tell me what the treehouse is allowed to look like based on branches and how high off the ground they are. The branches have to support the floors. The height of the ceilings have to be lowered in order to stay in harmony with the tree. Everything inside has to be shrunk down, kinda like in a camping trailer. For example when you go onto a house boat it doesn't follow any of the traditional rules of a normal home. Same thing with treehouses. They need to be looked at differently according to the environment you are building in. Great job on your elevated house. It's very professional looking.

Exactly. That's how I used to build; without cutting those branches. From primary, secondary even to the tertiary branches.

@dawsie
@dawsie 4 күн бұрын
@@darenburnett5894yes was thinking the same thing. Got to love the armchair builders and farmers. It’s a surprise that they never figure out why the tree houses built like that when children are no-longer around as adults😹😹 I remember watching a tree house builder from the States a few years back, and he built tree houses up in the trees using the bolts because it gave security over time whereas relying on the branches also meant the house would get bulled in every direction as the tree grew. He would build between a group of trees as well as only one tree, but in every single build he used the stainless steel brackets that would support the house. He never placed the weight of the building on one single branch, simply because you never knew when the tree would decide to cut off the sap flow to any given branch which the tree can and will do in times of drought. Where do you think the branches known as widow makers came from, the tree cut off the supply of sap to it so that the whole tree would live.
