Oh, you're just an angel! 💕I could listen to you talk all day, you have such a lovely conversational style! I've always liked old clothes but I've only been _really_ into vintage for about a year and a half now and most of that just through thrifting, so even though I know some things I like... it's still evolving! I've gravitated towards '40s with some ventures into the '50s (not so much wiggle dresses since I don't have the hips but the slim, gamine, tailored part! I think I'd like a full out circle skirt and yet I have yet to actually buy one, not sure if that's a sign??) but wow, I've been sighing over the '30s lately! I think if that was more accessible, I would have already gathered more on that front but the true vintage is so expensive and the right skirt silhouette isn't as easy to find as an a-line or fuller skirt while out thrifting. I'm not a purist but I do really love when you can find true vintage, just because the quality of the fabric and the little fit details are so amazing compared to modern clothing! Anyway, thank you so much for your little tour through your closet, it really gave me a lot of inspiration. I'm going to need all three parts of your series to help me with my current struggle and keep reminding me that I should only get the things that I really _love_ and will be excited to wear, instead of what I happen to see at a bargain! Your wardrobe is such a dream, I was totally enthralled by all the examples you were pulling! 😍Thanks for making this!

Oh, you are just too sweet! Thank you for all your kinds words! The 40's is a lovely period, because it borrows elements from the 30's, and is a preview of the 50's :). The 30's silhouette is harder to find in modern thrift, sometimes you can find an 80's throwback that is a good mimic. But you are right, finding true vintage is just the best! The quality, as well as the pattern and types of fabric, plus the little accents or trim or buttons simply can't be beat. Unless you can sew, of course! I have a lot of vintage pattern and accents, but my skill level is not quite there so I'm scared to start cutting... Remember that if you buy quality vintage that you will be able to resell it if it happens to not suit your evolving style! Best wishes in your efforts to build a vintage wardrobe-

Mine varies by season. I've found I tend to get into 1940s and 50s around the fall (so right about now) and through the winter, and more 60s and 70s during the warmer months.

I just found your channel and I am enjoying this video so much. My favorite fashion time period is also the 40s. I do not have any vintage clothing, just stuff from the 80s! I was born in 1952 and I remember my mom dressing me in dresses with the crinoline petticoats. I loved it.

Have been using a cheap fabric I still had lying around so I can figure it all out without worrying. But they definitely expect you to know what youre doing! So Ive got some 40s/50s sewing manuals coming to see if theyll help.

@@MisSiszY That’s wonderful! And yes, my grandmother also made a “muslin” of cheap fabric before she cut the good. Some of my older patterns don’t even have printed marks on them. Instead, they have small holes pierced in patterns. Luckily my mother learned on really old patterns and could tell me what the marks meant! Good luck❤️

I wish I had someone with that kind of knowledge available to me! This is all both feet in and hope for the best haha. Ive also found the most beautiful 40s skirt on etsy that I neeeeed to recreate.

I know I am blessed, just because lots of people lose things to fire, flood, or the need to sell things. I am SO sorry for the war being the reason you don’t have heirlooms! That hurts my heart for you to think of that added on top of all the other horrors. But like I tell friends who don’t have things passed down, YOU can start it for your family! Someday someone will treasure something of yours, then perhaps a grandchild. And then you would be the ones creating heirlooms for future generations to cherish💗💗💗

I loved this! I learned a lot about each different style. I just love the edwardian fashion. I loved seeing how fashion had has had sort of an ebb and flow on fitted clothing and then looser straighter clothing, fascinating.

It’s also so beautiful that you have dresses that have been passed down and truly treasure them. I really liked getting to look at the clothes you showed us. It must be amazing having so much from your own family. I know I love, or loved to wear my grandmothers clothes, I unfortunately these days have a fuller body, so I can't wear her clothes now. I also used to wear her clothes to school. My absolute favourite was, and still is a black suit, with a straight skirt and a very fitted jacket with velvet detailing on the collar and pockets. Hello, sugar, and thank you for replying! Yes, I still wear vintage very often, but my look has shifted a bit. I’ve gone from wearing a lot of 40s and 50s (which I still wear) to more 70s Gunne Sax style maxi dresses and a lot of 80s Laura Ashley and prairie core type dresses. I’ve gone from a slightly more tailored look to a more flowing and romantic style. Perhaps I could do a video of how I’m dressing now! I hope you have a lovely day today💗

The Edwardian era did not have tiny waist. What they did do was pad up their hips and breasts. They used padded bustle and hip pads to make their waist look smaller. Their breasts were also padded up and a lot of ruffles to make that pigeon breast look. It was all an optical illusion to create the correct silhouette
