Solid video. I’m going to put together a video for my current live console.

Great video as always Joe…. I’ve actually just finished setting up mine at long last… I installed it all into one flightcase two days ago… hadn’t touched it since we last spoke 🙈 hoping to get it going in the next week or so

Well this might be a good reminder then. To make sure your rig is setup correctly. Hope you get it going. Let me know if you have any issues.

Oddly enough, your "home-built" unit is almost identical to what Waves just released in their all-in-a-box unit. Cheers!

Well … yeah 😅 I will not switch anytime soon. But if I started with nothing I would absolutely go with the Waves one. There are pros and cons to both mine and theirs.

Our church has one of this and none of the Sound Engineers knows how to use WAVES.... Guess watching your bids will help me embark on the journey of learning how to use waves

Well Waves LV1 is a really good sounding console. But it can be a bit confusing. So have a look at my vids, hopefully it will shine some light on things. And please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for future videos. Thanks for watching :)
@roncoleman50073 ай бұрын
just so I understand, the LV1 software on the mac or pc is just a controller application to the server and is not actually processing any audio.....All processing and routing is in the server and the LV1 software is just an interface to the server. Would that be correct? So the host mac or pc does not need to be a powerful computer as there is no actual plugin, audio, or processing of any kind other than remote UI to the server.. correct?
@joevegna3 ай бұрын
That is a perfect description of LV1. You can even mid show disconnect the host and the show goes on (but you can’t change anything). You don’t need a very powerful host computer.

I just saw they now have a LV1 mixer with 16 inputs

Yeah, I just tried it. Not too shabby 😀 Will post a first quick look soon.

Thanks Joe, how can i send to monitors from Lv1 to a x32 mixer, i have wsg card in the x32? Thanks
@joevegna4 ай бұрын
If you have a wsg card then you can just share all inputs. So basically running 2 separate mixers with the same inputs. One for foh and one for monitor. I have a video about working with 2 consoles. I use 2 LV1 but it should work the same.

Why would you have the switch and the servers on stage and not at FOH?
@joevegna4 ай бұрын
You can have the servers at foh, many do. But if the cat cable breaks everything gets quiet. If you have the servers on stage and the cat breaks you still have sound, but no control. I have a video called ”When everything break” where I go through this more in depth.

Why not connect the router to the switch? Did it once for iem control … no issues. It was a pc as host
@joevegna4 ай бұрын
That is actually what I do most of the time. But it’s not recommended by Waves, that’s why I show the “right” way of doing it in the video. But you are absolutely right. You can connect everything to the switch.

Any tip for a case to put in screen and fit and some rack space ?

I use the Peli 1637 air for my consoles. Works very well.

Server we can backup server Can we have a host pc like 2 axis scope for back up Will the sound stop if the host crash and we have to change the host
@joevegna4 ай бұрын
Well ... Redundancy is not Waves strong suit. The backup server is not active until the main one fails. If that happens there will be a few seconds of silence. You cannot have 2 hosts active for backup purposes. However, if the host crashes there will still be sound since all processing is done in the servers. So in theory you could have 2 hosts but only 1 connected. If that one dies just connect the other one. I've not tried this scenario though. Check out this video for more info about backup and crashes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJ28cnR8hqZsgaMsi=jLt5LQNOldTd1wB2

I really appreciate this video for it being well made, well thought out and everything. I haven't followed your online presence yet. But as a first time visitor, it's nearly unbearable to hear the "ehhhhh" "ehhhhhs" in your speechagain and again. I know you're not a native speaker and this is a hard thing to point out and i don't want to be mean. Just be aware of it and... i don't know, maybe try to change that for future content? :D Best and thank you!
