Building a Wood Pontoon Boat in 4 Days

We bought a pontoon boat on Craigslist this Summer. We had 4 days to complete the build before setting sail on Lake Michigan for the 4th of July. It came with a broken 2 stroke Mercury outboard. We will never forget the Summer of 2020.

Awesome ! Hi what Type of bad weather could this handle? I’m on a build at the moment and have 6m L x 1.2m fibreglass hulls and want to use pallets with a top deck like yours On the sea. I’m searching for strong structure. All ideas welcome 👍 cheers. Rob

Thanks Rob! I don’t really have much fiberglass experience so I can’t really chime in on that but our boat has been through some of the worst conditions our little bay on Lake Michigan sees in the summer 😀 we’ve been very surprised how well it’s held up to it

Ours is built on an original 80’s Weeres pontoon. Aluminum toons with galvanized steel cross members connecting them. We have 4 rows of pressure treated 2x4’s the length of the boat bolted to the crossmembers. Hope that helps 🙌

Nothing because it was already a previously titled vessel. We just had to change ownership at the dmv. This was built on a 1980’s pontoon boat
