Great looking gate. You made it look pretty easy. Definitely speeds up the process when you have spacers to keep everything nice and even across. I employ the same method with my rail and gate builds as well!

@AModernMaker
@AModernMaker 4 жыл бұрын
Supplies were around $600, labor cost depends on location, timeframe is around 24-100 man hours depending on how efficient your setup is. He was quoted $3-4,000 for that same gate by local gate builders.

Ok, but why would you attach the solid plate, before painting the back of the pickets and gate. It works better to paint or powder coat gate itself and then screw the Sheetmetal to the back after you coat it separate.

That is some quality work mate looking really nice. What kind of paint would you use. On my gate I used red oxide with a brush and hammerite metal paint with brush and was still getting abit of rust. Can you help me solve this problem. Thanks.
@AModernMaker
@AModernMaker 4 жыл бұрын
The home owner I built the gate for ended up painting it. The rust could be coming from not fully welded sections of the gate. Maybe adding some sealant so water can't get where there's no paint?

@AModernMaker

@tomallen100
@tomallen100 6 жыл бұрын
Been in the gate business for decades, wrought iron is rarely used anymore, people associate scroll work and intricate metal patterns with wrought iron so they generalize everything into it being iron and it is not. Sadly even some of those making these items don't even know the difference and their clients either. Most gates and railings being made nowdays are from steel or aluminum. They can closely resemble wrought iron but definitely are not.
