Hey Jimbo. Why is it none of those guys all loving your work don't ever bother to click LIKE? Your work is always perfect in so many ways. I guess I will continue to watch and wish. Thanks.

I started doing gates a year n a half ago and thank God for KZbin, I watched a few of your videos and still to this day mount my wood into the gate as you do. A very smart way to build and especially for the homeowner's. Keep the videos coming...
@rojasluis5882 Жыл бұрын
Hey Henry, what type or kind of wood you used?
@Alexlivingloud2 ай бұрын
@@rojasluis5882did you ever find out? I am building a gate and I want to use T&G wood but only one that I can find is the shiplap at Home Depot/lowes I don’t know if that would be a good choice for the outside weather.

I'm a gate builder myself for about 10 years now. I can't stress enough to get away from those types of hinges. The way they are built they wear down. Please look at Barrel Pin hinges. They last 100x longer than normal/heavy door style hinges. The barrel pin hinges have a grease fitting for service. Not to mention they can handle the weight gain of the gate when the wood soaks up water from a nice rain. Great videos too!

Is a Barrel Pin hinge the same as a Bullet hinge? Can't find anything called a Barrel Pin?

As many gates as you do, get a roller. SWAG Off Road is the one I have and it works great and is not too expensive. Their dies are the cheapest of any and that's where the money gets expensive. I have several curved pieces I cut on the CNC plasma table that I use as a template guide when rolling the steel. That's the secret as you can easily tell when you've rolled it to just the right curve. Make several passes with the roller to get it to just the right curve. That way, the gate always ends up matching my drawing. I cut the templates from 10ga steel - about 36"x4" where one of the long sides is cut to the curve I need. I cut letters into the template indicating what radius they were made for. When I do gate tops, I often design them to fit one of the templates I already have cut. And BTW, nice work and what a clean and neat shop you have!

Glad to see those guys all wrapped up. I get nervous too with corner flex on big hanging pieces like this. Whenever I have some dead space in a sheet of steel on the plasma table I cut gussets from it, so I have a big pile of them to pick from to stiffen things up. Better over built than re-built, eh?

Nice, just a few months ago I built a gate almost the same except the arched top above. I've been looking for a video like yours for inspiration, but it's good to see it right now. I see you used argon, I used arc welding that makes life harder and I do not recommend. Greetings from Romanina and thanks for the video!

I was wondering if you could answer a couple questions for me, what dimensions do you send to your metal supply to get your radius bends and is it pretty pricey?
@8LARAIDER42 жыл бұрын
I just copied this gate and a shop wanted to charge me $100 buck for each roll. I just ended up making a jig radius and heated up the tube square and it bends nicely
