The LEDs look great. I feel like a few strips behind the TV would help tie the two sides of the set together since both the TV and the centre shelves are dark spots.
@TheGeekPub3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great idea!!
@shanejohnson773 жыл бұрын
I'd add backlights behind the TV to match the below shelf coloring. I'd also dress up the lower wires with black electrical tape or loom tubes and tidy them up where possible. You have a great opportunity to put monitors all around tied to working 8-bit computers and projects. No sense in missing that opportunity as you expand. You and David are doing incredible work, keep it up!

Wait just a dang minute?!? How have I never known about this channel?!? I've been subscribed to the iBook Guy for like a decade and I was today years old when I discovered TheGeekPub. At first, I thought this was a branched timeline from some kind of 8-bit Guy nexus event but learning that you are brothers is still mind-breaking... how did I miss this?

Awesome build. I would love to see you guys go deeper into the RGB setup and technology used to control them.
@kevinshumaker37533 жыл бұрын
Very nice start, sir. As others have noted, I, too, am not a fan of RGB lighting, but to each his own. I would have a dedicated setup for 'projects', or a table/desk extension to bring in (like a run-off table extension for a table saw) and a nice cart to roll in for sample/example showing off purposes, to not take up valuable floor space. For your pod casts (especially if you plan on doing it 'in the round', I'd try monitors on the side walls, too, so people don't have to 'swing' back and forth between something they need to look at and talk to the mic/camera...

When you showed the 2nd plan for the space and then said "I'm already using an IKEA sit stand desk", I was like "oh cool, looks like he's going to use IKEA KALLAX and LACKS", but nope, you built them yourself. I'm interested to know what the cost breakdown of your wood was to see if the IKEA version would have been less expensive than building them yourself. LED lighting looks great, are you using WLED to control them?
@TheGeekPub3 жыл бұрын
I am not. Just bought a $10 el cheapo to get me by. But I do plan to switch over to WLED when I get some time.

WS2815 rgb leds are a bit easier to work with. Same protocol, but they work on 12V - less amps to deal with and no color shift on long chains. ;) Backup data pin, that they also have, doesn't hurt either.

Hello Mike, Danilo From Brazil, I really like to see more of the Studio, Like what kind of additional lights you're using (softboxes? spots? light diffusers?, or just the ceiling lights are doing a good job?) and your sound setup (like your choice of a microphone) you know, I'm building my own studio, mostly to broadcast and record classes and courses... I'm new here in The Geek Pub, but I'm loving to see your videos, Amazing!
@TheGeekPub3 жыл бұрын
Just ceiling lights. Nothing else needed they way I setup the room. I'll have a premium video soon with all the behind the scenes stuff.
