I'll share this with you and your subscribers. The way to put those rubber band tracks together and works on any of them. You get a sharp pencil point (or similar) and insert it in the "hole" stretching out the hole. Repeat with the other hole and then you should be easily able to insert the pin. The track material will shrink back to its original size. You can then melt the pins and or weld the whole seam, on both sides. My favorite "weapon" for this has always been a small flat head screwdriver. I'd really like to thank you for bringing back some memories of my childhood ! This was my first Airfix armour kit I got at my local "Five and Dime" in the 50's early 60's. I thought it was a wonderful kit and I bought the Sherman kit the next weekend. They cost 50¢ each !

I presume you mean they're not bending around the wing? You'll need some decal solution to fix that. I've read you can use vinegar in the meantime (but I've never tested it myself)

Ahem. This exact Airfix StuG kit is the first kit I ever built myself. I was five and was in hospital for a long time. My grandfather visited me a lot and brought me, among other things, this kit (it seemed beginner-friendly, I guess). Had a newspaper over my lap in the hospital bed, put it together with some crude cement. If anything didn't fit well, I suppose I just put it a bit askew. No painting, obviously. I built lots of model kits in the following decade, but none that mattered as much. The StuG went missing when I was discharged, which was probably my fault. I missed it though. Soon after, my grandfather picked me up and took me to the hobby store, and I went home again with my second StuG. That one is gone now, too (it was 50 years ago!), but the StuGs have always seemed cuddly and friendly to me since then.

You could try dipping a piece of sponge into the maskol and remove the excess on a paper towel, and dab it onto the kit. It gives a nice, realistic effect once removed - at least in my opinion. Keep up the good work - you've earned a new subscriber.

Your videos are astonishing, fantastic work!!!! I was born in 1960 and here in Italy every young modeler dreamed with Airfix kits. Now I still try to improve may skill most with 1/35 Dragon kits but watching this I always would go back to the basics of the hobby and having fun as those golden days. I noticed not all in this thread are able to understand that even an old and obviously far from the today standard kits can be turned in a very interesting work using the simplest tools , sorry for them. Thank you, thank you very much for your masterpiece works (this Stug is simply fantastic) and for supporting the hobby. Ciao. Luca from Rome, Italy

I tend to sew my tracks together with thin clear nylon thread. It produces a tight joint which allows me to slip the track over the wheels without fear of the tracks coming apart. Now, to be truthful this method I use is generally applied to 1/35 kits but I sure could be used on smaller scales.

I am planning on making a bunch of army tank models, and using toy soldiers to battle with them. What beginner models do you suggest to use? I have done model kits before, and I really don't like the snap together ones, though I want a beginner one. Also how expensive are those models, and how much time does to take to build them? PLEASE ANSWER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Thank you so much!
@quickkits6 жыл бұрын
1:72 or 1:76 scale models will go together fairly quickly and easily, then depending on how much painting and weathering you do it could take a few days a model. Obviously if you work on a few similar kits at once you could speed up the process. The smaller scales tend to cost around £7. Have a look at Revell or Airfix or Zvezda

I believe that before the maskol has dried on the brush (once it's dried, the brush is ruined) you can rinse the brush in warm water to get it off
@Reactordrone4 жыл бұрын
Since it's a latex product you can sit brushes in baby oil for a few hours and the maskol will swell and degrade, allowing it to be removed from the brush.
