Almost any stand of pine in Ohio will have a lot of mostly straight trees, at least in southern Ohio where our family farm is. You wouldn’t want to do this with hardwoods, anyway.

You did a great job. I would recommend allowing every other pole to overlap the ridge pole so you could alternate the pole and then nail them to one another. As the main ridge pole is not that strong and will fail over time. But the pole can stand up on there own is nailed.

i applaud the hard work, but i would strongly suggest lashing the two vertical poles you installed (against the trees) at their bases. if the bottom of either was ever kicked out the entire structure might fall on you.

Jesus, the dog eats better than I do. I swear I thought he was making his own dinner when he was getting the dogs in the beginning. He dumped the food into the bowl and all I was thinking was "he put so much into that bowl, how is he going to cook it and make sure it's evenly done?"
