Almost any stand of pine in Ohio will have a lot of mostly straight trees, at least in southern Ohio where our family farm is. You wouldn’t want to do this with hardwoods, anyway.

You did a great job. I would recommend allowing every other pole to overlap the ridge pole so you could alternate the pole and then nail them to one another. As the main ridge pole is not that strong and will fail over time. But the pole can stand up on there own is nailed.

Nothing to weatherproof it? Interior? I'd love to see that done. But more permanent such as flooring of some kind, sleeping area, etc. Makes a great bug out location for one or two. A natural looking caulking would definitely make it more efficient.
