The big houses in the foothills does sound like a good idea, kind of a Beverly Hills type thing. You can even fence the area off with multiple entry and exit points to make it feel like a really exclusive place to live in

For the houses on the hillside, maybe one side could be Mid-Century Modern, and the other side be Green Cities? One side fancy and neat with concrete and pools, and the other more natural, with gravel and trees.

I don't know what I like more - watching the beautiful city unfold or listening to how enthusiastic you are about it. I would call it Thee Orchid Bay University. With emphasis on the thee (rhymes with V.) It comes from Ohio State University in the states which was originally an agricultural college before it grew into the behemoth it is today. The mascot / nickname would be the Lone Wolf or the Howling Wolves.

For the houses at the foot of the hill, perhaps you could name it Scholar's Landing. I imagine alumni of the university might look to live in the nice expensive houses after finishing their degrees and getting their new jobs. Plus, the elevation of it, but not being high on the hill makes it seem like a bit of a landing to me :) As usual, thank you for the good content!

Not going to sugar coat it, i genuinely didn't expect the idea of the farming industry combined with the the university to work so well with each other! Once again a amazing job! Id like to suggest this part of the city be named hillsdale, and since the university is sitting on the hillside you could call it “Hillsdale” university. While i love the name orchid bay for the city as a whole, I know you’re going to be expanding much farther from where you’re at, so i figure having nicknames for certain parts of the city would make sense

I'm currently following this build (few vids behind) and its immensely fun! Its good for when at a loss for how to approach a city build as you've gone through the motions of building it for yourself so you gain a feel for the variety of asset usage and the scaling for individual builds. Gonna start a creative game alongside, just need to pick a map from the modpack for this. Keep up the great work and content :)

Nice Ag College build today. Brought back memories that spanned over 20 years. My mother attended ASU (Arkansas State University) back in the 60's and I attended there for 4 of my 8 years of college life through the 80's (was a Mechanical and a Structural Eng. major so attended 3 universities spanning those courses). ASU was (and still is) called Cow College by the locals as it started out mainly as an agricultural college. I watched it grow every decade into the sprawling campus it is today growing in size and course options. We still have a large area on campus with Bison and dedicated acreage for farm studies, however through the years of technology and additional trade studies, ASU has been a central point of the town of Jonesboro Arkansas for well over my 50 plus years. I hope we can see this school able to expand eventually too in this build series.

Hey! I play on console and I enjoy your videos❤️ I think you should change the name of the Vegetable Academy to the Agricultural Lab; maybe Orchid Bay Agricultural Lab? Idk lol Also level one and level 2 LDC builds are nice-especially if you only want one Burger Shot, chicken restaurant or pancakes house in a strip. 4x4 level 2 LDC builds usually spawn nice town cafes with chairs. Anyway, looking forward to the next build!

It's great that you're so excited about this city. I actually have a lot of trouble getting into a new city. The last build of mine I enjoyed was on Oracle Lake. It was one I had previously started, grown to a few thousand population, and then got bored of. Then months later, after they released P&P, and I saw you play, I wanted to try. So I decided to go back to an old city rather than starting new, just to try. Then I really got into it and grew it to 40K where I was really happy with it. But I haven't been able to get into another one since

I've been watching the episodes and keeping up but haven't commented yet. I just wanted to let you know this is some high quality city creating. The way you view the game is very unique and creates something more than just zoning of this and that. I really have been enjoying and have been even thinking about possibly trying my hand at it but my way of playing wouldn't let me get very far haha as I don't have the patience, even if it creates something so beautiful and full of character. Once again, thank you for this series it's such a treat and really gives a fresh perspective on this game, which is nearing on the 8 years old now I think.

Maybe a bit of a long shot but the university reminds me a lot of the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada. Its an agricultural University where they study the best way to grow beets (ok maybe not beets specifically but lots of agronomy going on). "Saskatchewan" also comes from the Cree word meaning "swift-flowing river" and both Saskatoon and Orchid Bay have a River flowing through them.

Hey there! Wonderful build thus far can't wait for the next episode! Naming suggestions first: "Orchid School for the Nature Gifted" and the suburb should be named as the Hill is named. Campus might need a bit more love with bus stops and tram; also some more housing for the students outside of dorms (i.e more residential zoning) and commercial could go a long way in walking distance of the college. The hillside suburb is fantastic, more plz The city might need more transportation options soon; metro and rail for example are a must!

Great build egg. Maybe the college should be the Orchid Regional Agricultural Learning skills college. 🤣😂🤣 I mean, the locals will abbreviate it to the ORAL Skills College but that's not the fault of the Orchid College Naming Board. In the lore, I'm thinking that mistakes were made and things were overlooked but all the signage was already ordered so it had to go ahead. 🤣😂

For the little mountain neighbourhood I’ve seen some people suggest having some of it be green cities, so maybe you could add a waterfall so you can have a little river flowing through one of the neighbourhoods. Also I think for the modern mid century area you should definitely fence it off and give it a more ‘gated community’ type vibe.

Could I suggest "The Walking Cow Institute" for the IT Club? Reason being when I was at uni in the early 80's, I worked at computer lab. A researcher from the AG college came to us for help with a cow pedometer that he had designed. Back then counting cow's steps was cutting edge research, today of course you see them on cows all the time. Cow walkability is important in a city after all.

Thanks for using my idea about the churches, didn't even mean for it to be used in that way, just a joke. 😋 Great surprise! The wolf must be included now though then. 😜 Wonderful little campus, I like the theme and it fits in. I am happy the mountain became such a walk, it fits best, I think! For me the "rich" suburb fits with the feet of the hill, one or two more should be fine. Do the signs light up at night? If not, I will allow Find It ONLY for the purpose of putting a couple lights on it. If I see ONE grill in a backyard that doesn't belong thou... Paffs didnt come in right on the road that holds the Police Academy because you drew the road over uneven ground - you can also tell cause the zoning is broken by the corner. Obvs you just did it without snapping, but jusss sayin Don't forget to put a fire heli depot in somewhere - if the trucks can't reach the buildings, they'll burn (and that applies to any campus, park, amusement park, zoo, or nature reserve area) MCM housing is nice; can stay

It's funny, you've sort of created a pastiche of the Hollywood Hills here, with the mountain park representing Griffith Park, the neighborhood resembling many I've seen on the San Fernando Valley side of the hills (especially out toward Encino and further west), and I guess the university would be UCLA. I'd definitely continue to build around the base of the mountain, but maybe change up the architectural style on the other side of the hill where it faces what will eventually be downtown, shame there isn't a "Spanish Style" or "Mission Revival" content creator pack because that'd continue the Hollywood Hills theme and reflect what's on the LA Basin side of the hills rather than the Valley side.
@PeacockEarings

I love the MCM pack but I feel like something more rustic, spread out and maybe run down would suit being next to a nature reserve. You know, like people who want to be away from their neighbours and society. Or you go complete opposite and do mansions with huge lots and gated community since you have the prestige of being next to nature.
