the state of the patch around 5:50 (before the supercell comes into play) is just about the best setup for a texture-y talking "neuro" bass I've seen (drop down to A3). Similar to patches you hear in Massive/Serum/Vital but more interesting movement with less fx. No notch or comb filters or stereo image stuff, just an EQ and modulation. It's really elegant!

Omri I have a patching question. How could you quantize pitch in such a way that the pitches used are different depending on the octave? I was thinking about making something using whole tone scale, which does not fit within the 12 tone scale, so I would need to have essentially an extended range quantizer that would alter the quantized pitches as the octaves ascend.
@OmriCohen-Music
@OmriCohen-Music 3 жыл бұрын
Well, the easiest would be to use a dedicated module. The VCV Scalar has this option so you can choose different notes for different octaves. There's also a free alternative from noobhour, the Customscaler.

Absolutely delightful! I’ve recently got myself a Moog Matriarch so I’ll have to do some jamming along with this… Although, to be fair, I’ve barely switched my computer on since the arrival of the synth. Been toying with the idea of a DC coupled interface, could you recommend any particular one? Cheers for a great vid man, peace ✌️ 🍄🍄🍄

Oh wow, that sounds like a great idea. If you end up recording something with it, I would love to have a listen! If you want to send signals back and forth, then the ES9 is for you. Even if you don't have any other modules, you can put it in a small case with power, and use it as an interface, having the ability to send CV and audio back and forth. If you already have an interface that has ADAT in and out, you might want to check out the new module from Boredbrain. It's basically an ADAT module that can send CV and audio via ADAT. Also here you don't need anything else but a small case and power. If you want something bigger, you can check out the Motu interfaces. They have DC coupled outputs so you could send CV out of them. In any case, if you want to send pitch, you will have to calibrate things and it might be a bit annoying...

@@OmriCohen-Music Cheers Omri. I wasn’t aware of the Boredbrain stuff and I have ADAT I/O on my audio interface… Perfect! What’s the best way to send some music to you? I have something I’ve been meaning to send you for a while now… It was a jam I did over one of your live streams, obviously I didn’t record your stream, just what I was playing along with it.

ARRRGHHH 11.5 minuets in and I have just realised vcv2 does not have chronoblob2 and feline, still only on version1 and cannot get back to version 1 as updated this morning.😂

@@OmriCohen-Music got a question Omri about the beginning of your video about tuning. You used the bogaudio unit set to A4 but how is the setting on the oscillator? Is the standard tuned to C i assume? Can you clarify but it all depends how the oscillator is set i think.
@OmriCohen-Music
@OmriCohen-Music 3 жыл бұрын
@@joostvanbunnik7646 Yeah, exactly. What it says on the BogAudio module has no meaning if the oscillator is not tuned to C4. By default, most if not all oscillators in VCV are tuned to C4 so it works without the need to change anything.
